Thanks, Cheryl! Yes, that made my day! How have you been? I am good, had some problems with arthritis but my knee is almost 100 % better. Still have it in my hand but it is better. I have gained weight an unbelievable pace. lol I was 168 last Friday. Lots of swelling too. I was waking up swollen every day. Wonder what that is. I think sprints are helping me. I had added some apples and strawberries and those dang corn chips. I decided to drop the fruit and try to stay away from those dang chips. I haven't been pigging out or even eating that much but boy has the weight piled on.
How was your family trip?

Glad your arthritis is better, but I'm sorry to hear about the swelling. Hope that clears up soon. Chips are so hard to resist!!!! We didn't go on our day trip after all. The wind was so strong that we didn't want to be outdoors, and then we had a minor plumbing disaster that required several hours of work. But my husband insisted on washing all the dishes yesterday (dishwasher is broken - new one arriving tomorrow) and bought us a nice dinner, and my daughter drew me a beautiful picture and bought me tulips, my favorite. So it was still a nice day.

I splurged at the grocery store this weekend and bought a ribeye steak. Dinner tonight was steak with herb garlic butter & 2 eggs sunnyside up. That's all I've eaten today besides sugar free jello and iced coffee with hwc. I will probably have a snack before bedtime, maybe pumpkin seeds and cheddar.

Wow that sounds like a lot of inflammation going on. I'm starting to think that corn may be nearly as bad for us as wheat, at least the GMO kind find in most commercial products. I love corn tortillas and chips, but would probably be better off staying away from them. p.s. Whoops, tried to edit the quote and lost it.

I've given up corn, too. I am not missing it. I have a friend in another group that has a corn allergy. She says it is getting harder and harder to find food that hasn't had some sort of the corn thing added to it. Ugh.

Yes, Gretalyn, hanging out here will help keep you on the path you've chosen. It is how communities work. Must of us are not very successful at doing things that involve behavior change, or behavior that isn't the norm amongst those we hang out with, on our own.

I am planning on weighing Friday and hoping it goes down. TOM has been looming for a week. I am not swollen this morning so that is a good sign. My daughter is taking horticulture. She says corn is atrocious because of the genetic modification. She will only eat non GMO corn products.

Cheryl, without labelling requirements how does your daughter determine what is GMO corn products and what isn't?
The HCG round did help me get my mind right about food some. I did lose eight pounds which, given the amount of time I was taking the HCG, was about equal to losing the recommended by "experts" in the usual lose-weight way, about 2 pounds a week. If I had been true to protocol, I more than likely would have jettisoned another eight. Though round wasn't lost time, though, because I haven't been successful in that usual lose-weight way ever. Now, to keep eating in our sane way of NK without overeating....Glad you are feeling better this week.

Hi Pam! Yes, thanks, it is such a blessing to be able to lean on a group when you're not quite strong enough alone. It's funny - I've been doing this for three years now, so I thought I had this down, you know? But I guess I should have known from the seven years prior to that, that I am very vulnerable to inconsistency. And that consistency is the key, for me anyway. I think some people can have planned indulgences and then get back on track just fine. But my personality seems to be such that I can never "cheat". Just never. The consequences that it has for my health are so atrocious that you'd think that alone would be enough to keep me on track! And usually it is. I don't even remember how I initially got derailed this time. And it wasn't like I was going totally crazy and carb binging or anything. I was still keeping it around 100g per day, which is a level at which a lot of people can lose weight. But that is still way too much for my body. I was gaining and having all sorts of digestive and skin troubles. I just HAVE TO be ketogenic. Period.
Sorry to ramble on so much! Now, back to business.
Yesterday: Exercise - Run Food - 36c/88p/201f
Today's weigh-in: 135.2

Happy Tuesday! I had a wonderful 4 day weekend. Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day. Numbers for Monday: Cals 1199 Fat 86.78 Carbs 50.13 Prot 57.22 B- Coffee w/ HWC & CO, Egg McMuffin (one bun) L- Tuna, Salad w/ ranch D- cheese quesadilla w/ salsa, ham, string cheese S- Mixed nuts Had only a very small amount of lunch. Had an instant bloating stomach/gas attack and could only swallow a small amount. Very uncomfortable for most of the afternoon. Repeated over and over to myself: Is this feeling worth "cheating"? The answer is NO! I weigh slightly more than yesterday which surprised me but my hands are slightly swollen. Even though I was slightly too high on my Carbs (especially for day 1 of "back at it" ) but I think that's just water weight and will settle out soon. I didn't get to bed until 3am so am very tired today. (argument with DH ) Hope you all have a great day! It's beautiful here. It kinda feels like we're going to skip Spring and just go to Summer.

Hey Storytha, a disturbed sleep pattern will also affect the scale...and not in a good way. Gretalyn, we all need to rehearse what happens to us when we do x or y. We easily forget. Ha! I am also one who can't do the "just one bite" or planned indulgences. That kind of behavior doesn't throw me off track a teense, the track buckles and I go plunging down the steep and rocky mountain cleft.

Yesterday's exercise: bodyweights, but I took it pretty easy since I hadn't done it in awhile and didn't want to get sore. Plus my knees kind of hurt during the squats. Yesterday's food: 35c/68p/174f
Today's weight: 135.4 (Hope this upward creep stops soon.)

rejoicealways8 You are right. I forgot about that much lack of sleep affecting the scale. Yesterday started ok then a big whoops at dinner. I got home from work around 5:25 prepping to make soup for kids and me but DH called from work-he'd split his shorts, could I bring him a new pair? So off the kids and I went to save the day. We only had time to hit a fast food place before Cub Scouts and I didn't research what I could have at Jack in the Box. Boo! Tuesday's Numbers: Cals 1711 Fat 126.05 Carbs 77.54 Prot 69.01 B- Coffee w/ HWC & CO L- Salad bar w/ ranch, 1/2 C cheddar soup D- Tacos S- peanut butter, boiled egg Sodium was 3595g which I'm blaming for the very swollen feeling I have today. feet/ankles and hands are bloated. I slept better but felt very munchy and prowled the kitchen for a snack late at night. Happy Wednesday! Let's all have a great day!

RE: corn, my allergic friend says that the spray that is put on fruit and vegetables is corn based. AND that many packaged foods have corn derived products in them. Ugh. It's a mine field out there--even among the fruits and vegetables.

It's a mine field out there--even among the fruits and vegetables. My little Sis grew up allergic to Corn, Wheat, Soy, and Dairy. The toughest one to avoid was corn. Corn syrup is in everything! We had to buy her Mexican chocolate (cane sugar) and no ketchup or almost any processed foods. As an adult she's better but can still feel the effects if she eats popcorn.

Yesterday's Exercise: Run (with my daughter, which makes it a lot more fun) Yesterdays Food: 24c/134p/144f Protein was higher than usual, and I'm not even sure why.
This morning's weigh-in: 133.6 It was nice to see that number go down, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up in case that was just dehydration or something.

Hi all. Get to sleep at my own house for three nights starting tonight. Yea! Ate a dessert at a luncheon today. Not usual for me and also scrumptious. Two glasses of wine tonight. Yep, scale number is going up in the morning. Ha!

In the odd ways of weight and scales, the jump I expected didn't happen this morning. It could be that the scale was a tile floor yesterday morning at Mom's and this morning the scale was on the wood floor at home. It's the same scale. I am feeling the body drag of two glasses of wine, though. I haven't done the Friday HIIT in weeks. Isn't going to happen this morning as I've stuff to do too soon to work it in. I did jump around last night though here at home. Anything will do!

Well, I flaked out on my exercise yesterday. No excuse at all, I just didn't do it. My guilty conscience made me dream about exercising last night. But somehow I suspect you don't burn as many calories when you just dream exercise. Food was good, though: 25c/64p/140f And weigh-in this morning was also good: 133.2

Weigh in today was 165.2 so I lost about 3 lbs this week. Strange thing is I have not had any lc flu symptoms at all. My carbs were not over 100a day I am pretty sure so maybe that is why. Hard to believe I gained that much dang weight though. I figured since I had gained so much I was in for some lc flu.
