My name is Darin. I began LC at 265 pounds. I went wheat-free at about the same time. I got down to 205 and stalled for months and months. I found Nutritional Ketosis back in August of 2012 and I've been following it since then.
I am also the admin for our forum.

Hi Darin!!
and of course everyone else :waving:
I am going to cut and paste part of a message I sent earlier that started this whole thing so I don't have to type it out again.
For the one who has already seen it, just ignore it...nothing new has happened in the past 47 minutes. <LOL>
My name is Vicki, currently living in the sunshine state of Florida...more specifically the momentarily rain soaked section usually known as St. Petersburg. I have been on low carb on and off <and on and off, and on and off> since 2004. Due to circumstances completely within my control, I lost 40 lbs, then gained 50...waited a year, lost another 40, gained 60, etc etc etc. Are you sensing the pattern?? Yeah, me too. Which brings me to my current start of 270 lbs. Which would be fine if I were a 6'7 body building doorman somewhere. But...God had other plans and decided to make me a 5'2 fat girl with hazel eyes and brown hair ;-)
I blame no outside forces, no undue influence from other people, no terrestrial intervention that caused my yo-yo years. I did it, I own it, and now I have to fix it. I know what is good for me, and I know what I need to do....I just have to get out of my own way and get to it.
Starting this journey almost 10 years ago...I know things are much different now. Times change, science changes, and I find myself learning new things every day. I will ask questions, give opinions, and be wrong occasionally. As with all thoughts, ideas and opinons YMMV. we all have something to teach and must be willing to learn. I look forward to continuing my journey in your company for as long as it lasts.

Hi I'm Kee Kennedy, my weight has but up and down for years. Recently though I got down to 179 walking 3 miles a day and doing Quick Weight Loss. That isn't working now.
I have been in a stressful situation with my elderly parents, who I care for so I wanted to try the NK plan. I did do 7 days of low carb under 20 grams, today on my 7th day, no gains but now losses either. Found this forum on FAT Secret

We mostly post on a monthly thread. Reddarin just started up July's thread today. nkevolution.freeforums.net/thread/91/nk-july-2013-versionThere is an intro at the beginning of each month. He has links in there and great explanations. Any questions you have you can post right there on the monthly thread. Ask anything. We are glad to help.

My name is Christine outside of Boston MA and have been riding the roller coaster of weight gain and weight loss and I am so dizzy. On and off Atkins on which I had originally lost 80 lbs. Never gained it all back so switched to WeightWatchers just to try and lost but it was horrible. Have always felt stronger and better on Atkins so here I am again. Was over on a forum on FatSecret and met Clueless101 and Reddarin what an info packed resource they were so here I am ready to learn more!

Hello hello! I'm Cari. I found this place through FatSecret. I'm not putting a heavy focus on how many carbs I eat (or don't eat), but I eat Paleo, which is naturally low carb so...similar effects I guess. I'm also a CrossFitter, which is how I learned about Paleo. I've been doing it for a year, but only started eating right in April. Since then I've lost about 15 pounds. Cutting out grains has done a lot more for me than just weight loss, so I plan to stick with this long term. Well, I cheat once in a while. : )
I've been on vacation the last two weeks and have seeeeriously dropped the ball. But that's okay because I'm back in it now.
Nice to meet you all!
Just a quick question - does this forum have restrictions on profanities? I am a potty mouth.

LCer here. Started on Atkins in January of 2011 went from 254 to 200 lbs, Tot. Cholesterol went from 265 to 211, trigs 201 to 56, HDL 58 to 70, LDL 167 to 127 all while eating HIGH FAT! Been in a stall now for a while and need to lose another 50 pounds. Found you through FS; can't stand the boards there being overrun by people who don't understand LCHF way of eating. Mostly a lurker, but contributed a few times. Followed Clueless' suggestion to another poster to come over here.

I'm happy to be here. This is an exciting time in my LC/NK trip--today marks the last day of my first six weeks of ketogenic eating.
Now I will make use of blood ketone readings (as soon as my order arrives)for the purpose of finding my carb ceiling. I was at 20 g for 4 weeks, then moved to 25 g by adding a little nut butter for recipes and a little cottage cheese for a quick breakfast. I hope to include nuts and a few berries to my plan if carb tolerance allows.
I'm also in the process of healing myself from NES (night eating syndrome) and am doing very well with it, though sleep problems persist as they have for nearly a decade since menopause.
Some of you may recognize me under another screen name elsewhere. I'd love for this board to become my home for Phase 2 of my keto progress, and I look forward to sharing information, challenges, and successes with you all.

Hey phanney, Welcome Congrats on the 6 week point. Can you feel the difference in appetite yet? For me it was amazing! I don't test but, I have pushed my carbs up and have stayed successful. I used to think that I needed to stay around 20 to 30 a day. I have found that as long as I stay under 50 I do fine. That opens up a lot of eating choices that I was limiting, like strawberries and avocados and nuts. I have to watch the nuts though. Glad you are joining us. It really helps to have a strong support system Cheryl

I think we have at least two members that are testing BK so be sure to keep us posted on your levels You should look at it as food tolerance rather than carb tolerance to find your xxg to 50g total carb range. I don't test but I found that generally I can go all the way up to 50g, even a little over, without apparently impacting my results. We're happy you found us

My name is Chapel. I am 5'3", 39, and live in Columbus, OH. My General Practitioner put me on a low carb, no sugar diet back in Feb to help me get my blood glucose numbers down and get back on track with weight loss. I actually started NK in March at 142 lbs (later due to a few weeks Army training that made it difficult to follow a strict diet). I've had some ups and downs during this time but the biggest one has been knee surgery on May 15. I'm almost back to strength from that and am working my way into full-blown half-marathon training and weights. I also hope to play ice hockey again this fall.
Since starting NK, I have lowered my body fat by about 2% overall and am currently at 135 lbs. In the last 2-3 months, I have seen my blood glucose numbers go from pre-diabetes level to a completely healthy number, bad cholesterol drop, good cholesterol increase by quite a bit, and my blood pressure seems to have come down some (used to always be borderline-high in the doc's office). My goal is to get to 120-125lbs and around 20% body fat (28% now).

Welcome Chapel. I'm new, too.
And about food tolerance vs carb tolerance... both are good to look at, but I see your point.

Hi! My name is Vicki and I am a mom of 2 great kids and I teach fifth grade. I have tried every diet from Kimkins (remember that fiasco??) to hCG. I have found the ONLY way to control my cravings and feel really great is to be in NK. I cannot eat any fruit either which pretty much sucks. I eat Paleo and try to stick with grass fed, free range, and organic veggies. My husband keeps trying to do this with me but can't get past those first few days of feeling like crap. I am trying to see why I am tired all the time and I have even started make my own skin care products to reduce the toxic load. I know this can take time but I am in it for the long hall. I am only on day 5 and I am hoping that I will have the energy I am looking for after I become keto adapted in a few weeks. Glad to be be here and looking forward to "meeting" you all!
