once again, weight loss by the minute? 6:00 - 317.4 6:30 - 317.2 6:43 - 316.3 maybe if i didnt have to work at 10 am i woulda been 299. I still dont get this. Either way it sucks cuz my lowest was 314.7 on Sunday may 26th at 6:20 AM There is nothing to get Myles. Well, there is only one rational conclusion and that is that the scale does not represent anything except a data point in time and the more compressed the time frame the less reliable the data. That is why you have to average the readings over a reasonable period of time to dampen the peaks and valleys into something semi-meaningful. Several months ago I weighed myself before bed and then after getting up in the morning two or three times. I think the difference was 7 pounds or 9 pounds. That is why a lot of people use other ways of checking themselves for progress like measuring or fit of clothes etc.

Weigh-in this morning ... 189.2. My average for the week was 189 which is the same as the average for the week before but I am maintaining the 2 pound loss from the average three weeks ago. My average calories for the week were about 2,700. My average calories for the last 7 weeks has been 2,450 and my week ending average weight was 195 (7 weeks ago) so my weekly average weight has dropped 6 pounds. But that is using averages. I weighed 195.5 then and 189.2 now but the scale has gone up and down over that time. I'm certain that my belly looks less fat though. I noticed that several days ago. Back before the fiasco of quitting smoking when I got to 186 it really bugged me because I still had a distinct pot belly. I thought, at the time, what the heck how low should my weight be??? But this time around, as I re-approach 186, my belly does not look the way it did last time around. There are some differences between now and then. For one thing I am a whole lot more knowledgeable about NK. My protein intake is considerably higher than it was back then. I have incorporated a very, very modest exercise routine (takes less than 5 minutes to complete and I do it every other day at most usually). I'm inclined to think that the last time around I'd lost more LBM than I should have because my protein grams were too low for me. And I noticed at that time that my arms looked stick thin (which is no longer the case thanks to my McGuff inspired exercise). Hooray Darin. Isn't that some amazing stuff! Higher calories and more fat loss with less LBM loss.

Welcome back Greta!! Except for the military and extended business travel (like out of state for a year one time), I've lived in Texas in the DFW area my whole life and I have never been a fan of that city. The surrounding cites are pretty good though, like Plano and Mesquite and Los Calinas. Thanks! It's good to be back. I grew up in southern OK and my then-boyfriend/now-husband worked at TI and lived in Plano for a few years. I was still in college in OK at the time, but visited him on weekends and lived with him over the summers. I live in Albuquerque now, which has some very serious problems. We probably won't stay here forever and I'm always complaining about it, but I really love the climate, the landscape, the skyscape (the skies here are so gorgeous they deserve separate mention), and certain aspects of the local culture - although fewer of them now since I can't eat the breakfast burritos or the stuffed sopapillas. What I loved most about Dallas on this trip was the arboretum/botanical gardens. Absolutely gorgeous! We only had a short time there, but I think I could have spent all day. What I hated the most was how unrelentingly car-oriented Dallas is. I don't remember seeing any city buses, and though we did see the light rails and the DART stations, they were utterly deserted! We saw ONE train go by the whole two days we were there. Albuquerque isn't big enough to have a light rail, but we do have city buses, bike lanes, and also this amazing invention known as the sidewalk. Someone needs to tell the Dallas city planners about sidewalks because they are cheap and easy to construct and they really help people get around. If Dallas had sidewalks, then when we were walking from where we had to park to where the convention was held, we wouldn't have had to choose between walking through muddy lawns and walking ON the street inches away from the cars (which, astonishingly enough, some people were doing). Also, people might be more inclined to use DART if there were sidewalks leading into and out of the stations. Geez, this isn't rocket science people!

Skin Tone?
I've noticed lately that my skin tone looks less pale. I'm a redhead so I've been pale skinned forever. I can get a farmer's tan (face, neck, arms) from being out in the sun a lot but my shoulders and torso seem less pale than they used to be. If anything I have spent less time in the sun for the last several months. I have made it a point to go out into the yard shirtless a few times to soak up some sun goodness but that never is more than a few minutes and it is infrequent.
Has anyone else noticed something like this with LC or NK?

Then again my time outside has been extremely limited this past month, whereas the month prior to that I was at the park for hours on end for long periods at a time I still seem to be as pale as I normally am in most spots, and I still burn easily. Although then again I haven't fully tested myself this year I guess. The season is still early, so I'm hoping for some nice weather so I could actually let you know definitively

You were the one that I created my solar panel wind-mill suit for? You should place your order soon because sales are projected to skyrocket by 10,000% this year alone. (disclaimer: projections based on not having sold any and high hopes of selling ten million units next month)Are you usually pale skinned Melanie? I mean, is it typically hard for you to tan or are you one of those people that burn once then tan the rest of the summer sort of deals?

I mean, is it typically hard for you to tan or are you one of those people that burn once then tan the rest of the summer sort of deals? Hahaha yeah, that was me I burnt myself pretty good the one time at the park earlier in the spring, but well... I didn't put on any sunscreen and I thought it wasn't warm enough to get burnt yet. I guess the sun sure showed me. I should have picked up one of your solar panel wind-mill suits when I had the chance! I'm a conundrum actually, Darin I'm Greek on my mom's side, so you'd think I'd tan... in fact my mom tanned REALLY well, and so did I when I was a kid it seemed. I'd get burnt in really sensitive areas if I didn't put on enough sunscreen (usually nose, cheeks, chest, shoulders, etc) but that was about it. I'd just tan, tan tan. It seems like something changed when I got older, and I don't know what it is. I'm not EXTREMELY pale regularly (I liked to call my friend growing up so pale that she was almost see-through ) but I'm not really tanning that fantastically anymore either. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if my legs can even tan/burn anymore at all. I'll have to test that out later this year, LOL. I never put sunscreen on my legs at all and they seem to stay the same color for some reason... never burning. They've burnt once in my life and it was during an all day kayaking trip down a river in 90 degree weather without sunscreen I used to just be able to get that base tan and burn once and be good to go... but yeah, two years ago SO and I went to Cedar Point for a couple weeks when we first met and despite them rubbing sunscreen all over me 24/7 I still burnt so bad I needed aloe to even be able to lay down at night. Of course this was made even more hilarious for me by the fact that they're dark skinned and don't have to wear sunscreen at ALL... I felt so awkward constantly asking for more sunscreen, and then burning anyway

Hmmm. That is interesting.
I wonder if it is related to some change in how efficient some part(s) of the metabolism is working. Your adrenals and thyroid (and possibly other players) have become less efficient and you lost your ability to tan easily.

I should ask that over at the Thyroid community I belong to, to see if anyone else noticed that happening. Either that or maybe it's just my body being a weirdo again and changing things up on me. It likes to keep me on my toes

Melanie, I'm not sure if taking magnesium helps me because I haven't been taking it consistently. It didn't seem to help with sleep any, but didn't make insomnia any worse. I haven't experienced bathroom issues with magnesium citrate, but the biggest dose I've taken is 600 mg.
Work started out slow this morning but they have plenty for me to do now. I'm hoping the job will last a couple more weeks, although I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

Dunno what she has been eating but you have to be careful with fat for a while at least. Too much fat makes my mother sick (upchuck). She's been a life-time low fat person though. Jimmy Moore said his wife was able to gradually increase her fat intake to be more or less high fat low carb.

Cheryl - tell her to stay on top of her meds. The pain from the gas they pump into you can be really bad if you get behind on your meds.

Darin - he's actually very musically talented, and sooo funny. He has another song that cracks me up, but it's pretty off color.
