I didn't eat at all yesterday and mostly stayed in bed. I wasn't intentionally fasting, just felt too cruddy from being sick. My throat is better today at least, and I'll probably fix a few eggs for a late lunch. So sorry you're feeling bad. Hope you feel better soon!

Weigh in: 162.6 for an unexpected drop. I was off plan on Friday, and with being sick all weekend I thought I would see a bounce up.
I'm calling out of work and going to try to rest today. It's hard to sleep because I keep coughing, but I can at least stay in bed.
storytha, you did good resisting the fried rice! I would have a hard time not eating even plain rice with Chinese food.

I've come down with a stupid cold, and all I've had today is tea with half & half. Probably won't eat anything, my throat is still too raw. At least I'm not tempted to keep eating off plan. I have chicken broth and made sure to get sugar free cold medicine. I didn't eat at all yesterday and mostly stayed in bed. I wasn't intentionally fasting, just felt too cruddy from being sick. My throat is better today at least, and I'll probably fix a few eggs for a late lunch. Before LC and wheat-free I would get several colds a year and always had really good results with the ZiCam melt away tablets - the holistic ones without regular medicine in them. Get well soon Lisa

I am still off plan. Still LC but eating some fruit, lots of nuts and some occasional corn chips. reddarin how's the sunburn? I'm 48, a pale skinned red head and grew up under the sunny skies of Texas. Which is to say, I've had a bazillion sunburns. This is the first time in my life I ever had a sunburn this bad that didn't result in a few days of agony and then peel. Is that weird or what? What's more is I *had* to finish up the yard work I'd started so the next two days I was out there, wearing a shirt to keep the sun directly off my back and working in the shady parts as much as possible but I couldn't entirely avoid direct sunlight. Still no peeling and it seems to have turned into a tan. I think this is the first sunburn I've had since going wheat-free and LC too. I've got many years of practice at not getting burned since even if I have to work in direct sunlight it is as easy as keeping covered up. I did use ACV and CO but, after all these years of getting sunburned, I think the LC wheat-free life is the difference. Possibly even being a lot closer to a healthy weight and just generally being much healthier today than the last several decades gave my skin the edge on healing up too. Whatever. I am astounded.

Having a second pretty good day. Won't be at my mom's til late which means I won't be scrounging around in her refrigerator and the like. That will equal an on plan day for me. Taking my scale over there so I can keep up with daily tallies for a few days.

I'm going to try to work tomorrow, don't know if I will make it the entire day but figured I should at least make an appearance. My appetite is still not great, but I made myself eat bacon and eggs cooked in butter. I have a metal ring that's supposed to be for making crumpets, only I use it for cooking eggs sunny side up.

I found an interesting blog post about the use of vinegar in treating GI distress. When I was growing up, my mom used to give us kids diluted apple cider vinegar with a touch of honey for upset stomachs, and it worked great. I still use vinegar but without the honey. My favorite way to use vinegar is to marinate shredded cabbage in straight vinegar for several hours or overnight. This is usually paired with a fatty meal, so I don't bother to add oil or sour cream to the cabbage. How to resolve GI dysbiosis

Bunniee, I think I will try that cabbage thing. Thanks for sharing....I read the GI article, too. I go through seasons of drinking ACV but haven't to the degree mentioned in that article. I may give it a go for a week to see if I notice any health changes.

Monday's numbers:
Cals 1145 Fat 93.54 Carbs 11.29 Prot 65.45
B- Coffee w/ WHC & CO L- 5 oz tuna w/ mayo 7 dill relish, salt and vinegar almonds D- Salmon, asparagus, hollandaise
WI -1.0# from water gain yesterday. Sodium was only 1298 yesterday (even with the salty almonds). Continuing to drink lots of fluids today.
Had a hard time eating dinner again. Still feeling positive about my short term goal. My mantra is "no cheating for one week!", and say that every week.
We're going to have the LC(ish) pizza for dinner so gotta make sure my numbers are good/LC during the day.

I may give it a go for a week to see if I notice any health changes. I experienced years of IBS symptoms before going low carb. The diet alone has helped a lot, but I've had issues trying to add foods rich in fiber (like flax meal). I'm hoping that regular use of vinegar will resolve it. I tried taking vinegar as a shot after lunch today - 1 tablespoon diluted with a tablespoon of water. It burned my throat a little, but I quickly drank some water. I found it easier to take than sipping highly diluted vinegar.

Hello! I made some chicken enchilada bake tonight (Brett's request) and it reminded me of yall! I still check in from time to time but life has been busy and hectic lately, for good reason... I've temporarily hopped off the keto train because back in January, we found out we had a baby on the way! Due September 11th.. I've had some trouble gaining weight (+6 pounds at 21 weeks right now) and my doc has strongly discouraged me from going into ketosis. Not that I'd want to anyway thanks to the heartburn. I do miss it though! Brett and I got married and we live in Texas now, woohoo! About a half hour south of Dallas. He took a Six Sigma position with a roofing company and likes it alot. I'm still looking for a position, but obviously have bigger things to worry about. If only I had a camera to take pics of interviewers faces when I walk in with a 21 week baby belly Its illegal to discriminate due to pregnancy.. but cmon. Companies find a way to legally say I'm not a good fit. Thankfully we are not in a position where I NEED a job, its mostly a boredom cure. Anyway I hope to still be able to check in often enough, and believe I will be back full time once I have the baby! Hope yall are good as well.

I didn't make the best food choices today, but at least I'm getting my appetite back.
Breakfast - coffee with half & half. I have a new ceramic mug, and I swear coffee tastes better in it than the old plastic mug I was using.
Lunch - bunless cheeseburger with pickles
Dinner - rotel dip and pork rinds
Snack - whipped cream and sugar free chocolate syrup
1650 calories, 95 g protein, 132 g fat, 20 carbs.

Congratulations Casey and your sailor! If you're interested in a reading a little about low carb pregnancy and feeding a baby LC from the get go, you can read some over at The Diet Doctor. Andreas Eenfeldt is a medical doctor from Sweden and he has been oe of the movers and shakers in the movement in Sweden to go LC....not necessarily keto. www.dietdoctor.com/klara-celebrates-her-first-birthdayI have made poor choices about food today. sigh.

Good morning NK friends. I avoided the scale this morning after the for-me-blowout on food. I attended an Alzheimer's Association lunch fundraiser yesterday. With all that depressing news and statistics given there and my plate sitting there for so long, I ate just about everything on it. Ugh. I was invited by a friend to the lunch thing yesterday and went to support her efforts. Did not have even have a glimmer of an idea I might be so impacted emotionally. Sheesh.
Then I had another food event last night (not the same topic thankfully) and I ate lots of carby food. No one made me, no one would have said anything if I had not even picked up the fork at either event.
Today is a new day!

cg037 congratulations! Sounds like you are having a wonderful 2014.
Tuesday's numbers:
Cals 1274 Fat 77.95 Carbs 35.54 Prot 72.76
B- Coffee w/ HWC & CO L- Tuna, mayo, relish, cheddar D- LC(ish) pizza S- Pepperoni stick
WI-2.2# a pleasant surprise.
Went on a hike with the cub scout troop yesterday. About an hour. Relatively level so I didn't do too bad. Weather was perfect.
Woke up this morning to tummy trouble and I have a slight headache. It's a quiet day at work so I think I'll head home sick. I've finished payroll which is the only time sensitive project.

Hey Bunniee, I did try drinking a tablespoon of ACV neat with a water chaser. It was a much nicer experience than watering down the ACV and sipping that. I could do the shot thing more often in a day. Thanks again for posting that article.

Here is today's log. Kind of carb-y but that includes 18 g of fiber. I also took 2 shots of ACV, one in the morning and another after dinner. I'm finding that it really helps to tame my appetite, especially in evening.
Breakfast - coffee with half & half Lunch - none Dinner - burritos made with ground beef, shredded cheese, sour cream, cabbage, oat & flax wrap. Pork rinds. Snack - dark chocolate
1146 calories, 64 g protein, 85 g fat, 52 g carbs.
