Weigh-in this morning...174.6 for a point two bump. Yesterday was HIT day so this is not atypical. I'm sore from the workout so I am surprised it wasn't a big bounce. Did you notice any difference in your workout after having the carby days. I ask because it is kind of like you did a carb reefed and some say it improves their workouts.

I was thinking that Kristin might want to set a specific amount of days (like 14) than "a little bit" which I know in my own experience can mean about three minutes if I don't like what is happening. I use the MCT oil to assure NK. I don't use a lot of it, about one tablespoon/day. I use coconut oil much more and have grown to love the taste. The MCT oil I do just slug it....I gave up dressings on my salads long ago. The weather is sliding in here, too, though we are not expecting anything other than welcome rain, nothing hardened or frozen being predicted at the moment though it will be around freezing tonight. I am no help on the chopper, Cheryl.

Did you notice any difference in your workout after having the carby days. I ask because it is kind of like you did a carb reefed and some say it improves their workouts. Well! My first reaction was no way since it was four keto days between high carbs and my HIT. But I googled around for information on refeeds and found this article that Mark Sisson wrote back in 2010... www.marksdailyapple.com/carb-refeeding-and-weight-loss/#axzz2uqF4gQW5With the following caveats - body fat has to be close to normal, metabolism has to be normal and healthy - the gist of it is that a refeed can boost leptin levels encouraging release of body fat. Indirectly that might have been the reason for being able to get more intensity in Saturday's workout. HIT workouts aren't affected by LC because they are always of a very short duration. Mainstream long winded WOs can be impacted by LC. Maybe the spike in leptin had a residual effect of making fat cells eager to give up energy. Interesting.

My little food processor bit the dust. Do any of you guys have one they really like or would recommend? I am reading reviews on Amazon. I have always wanted to get myself a nice one but only had the little single blade choppers before. Takes me forever to decide on a purchase over $5.00 I don't have any experience with food processors either Cheryl. Let us know which one you go with

Darin, would you agree that a minimum time period of trying something out is two weeks?....I am asking in regard to Kristin's statement of "stick to it for a little while..." Pam....this comment pretty much sums me up. I am always in a hurry to "figure it out" and never give myself enough time to actually do it.

Darin, would you agree that a minimum time period of trying something out is two weeks?....I am asking in regard to Kristin's statement of "stick to it for a little while..." Something I see a lot on diet forums is that people tend to have a blind spot where baselines are concerned. They don't really think about what exactly they are changing because they don't know exactly what they have been doing. The present is fuzzy so the future is fuzzy. It can work but it is very haphazard and when it doesn't work you don't know why it didn't work or what the change meant in relation to what you were doing. Like a speedometer being broken in a car you are driving. You don't really know how fast you are going but you can step on the accelerator or brake and speed up or slow down relative to your previous speed. Once you are at your new speed for x amount of time it is impossible to know your old speed (because you didn't really know what it was in the first place). If you brake more or accelerate more, it is now relative to the new speed and unmoored from the old speed. Yes, yes, yes, yes. That's me. Right there, too. I have such a tough time focusing on what I'm doing, so naturally I have a very tough time figuring out where I'm headed.

Well, I think I was losing weight and then decided to "help" it and focus on calories, I *think*. We'll see if I can go back and recreate AND stick to it for a little while to see if it really works.... We'll keep an eye on things Thanks, Darin.

Geez, louise....without a doubt, Pam. I get so hung up on "what if this isn't working and then in two weeks, I'm farther behind than I am right now...HURRY! CHANGE SOMETHING!!"

Since I added carbs back I have started having asthma attacks again. I think it had been over a year since I have had asthma attacks. I have had one every after walking my sister's dog and after running with the kids outside. They were usually exercise and cool or cold weather induced. Amazing that being NK adapted keeps me from having asthma attacks.

In what can only be construed as proof positive of naming calls, I seem to have caught a head cold lol. It came on yesterday so suddenly that I thought it was some sort of allergy because my eyes were watering and I was sneezing a lot with a very runny nose. Maybe it really is just an allergy to something that our cold snap in the area exposed?

Weight today 156.8, another bump. When did the asthma start resurfacing Cheryl? Are you using an inhaler or anything to treat it? I think the first attack was about 2 or 3 weeks ago when I had been out walking. Before this last cold hit me. This last week I have had one every day after walking the dog. Before NK the attacks were always exercise induced. They had just began the year before starting NK. The only time I had ever had them before that last year was when I was taking some meds for my thyroid. That is what seemed to be the onset of them. I had never ever had an attack before the thyroid meds. Yes I have a couple of inhalers left. I may have to go back to the Dr and get some more if they keep up. Gets kinda scary when you cannot breathe.

Glad you have something on hand. Sucky it started from a medicine side effect.

I have been looking into MCT oil to help up my fat intake on some days. I can think of quite a few ways to use it (mostly smoothies, dressings, and dips). Anyone know if it gives the same reaction as coconut to some one allergic?

So my weigh in today is at 272.0 for a 2.2 bump, but I'm not worried! I actually just nodded when I saw it this morning instead of screaming. I'm still fighting off the family cold, I think TOM is trying to come, and my shoulder is hurting again (inflamed rotator cuff). My eating was ok (just ok!) this weekend. Really not hungry and my calories were probably really low. My feet and ankles are trying to swell which usually means hormones. Kinda proud of myself for seeing the outside sources for the gain and knowing at the end of the week I'll probably show an overall loss. I do have a head of cauliflower for the creamed cauliflower recipe here. I'm going to try to make it tonight. Yum!! Our school district was on 2 hour delay but the college wasn't (where DH works) So I called in late this morning and lounged for a few hours. Very nice! Oh-probably another reason for the gain was late weigh in. Icy yesterday and today but supposed to get over 60 deg tomorrow. Can't come fast enough!!

I saw some posts that said MCT oil should be okay because it doesn't have proteins that are usually the reason for food allergies. But I checked the nutrition data on both and neither has any protein. CO has a couple of plant sterols, polyunsat fat and mono fat while MCT is pure sat fat. Maybe buy a small amount and let him test a little bit? Or is his reaction very strong?

He won't eat movie theatre popcorn with "butter" because the palm oil makes him queasy. I just don't want to make him question the food I serve him.

I always wondered what it was about movie theater popcorn that makes me so sick. Last time I ate the popcorn I didn't even get to finish the movie before getting sick.

Let me just say for all men everywhere on the planet a big God Bless for that! Nothing annoys me more than being tricked into eating something I don't want or like to eat. Hmmm. Queasy probably might mean it is a gut flora issue. I'd guess that if he is that sensitive he might need some attention in that area with prebiotics and probiotics. Or it could be a problem with low stomach acid too. Does he get frequent heartburn or indigestion?

Ketausea lol! I forgot about that word. Becky actually coined the word and I thought it so neatly described the situation I told her I was stealing it for my sig line heh. I wonder how she is doing? Man she'd go off plan, gain some weight, jump back on plan, lose it forthwith, go out of town and off plan again, rinse repeat. Even now I can't hold a stick to what she was able to do heh.

Numbers and log for today. I felt unusually fatigued and weak most of the day so my body is definitely fighting something. I got to feeling better later in the day. Sneezing seems to have left and the runny nose for the most part. No cough or anything but my head still feels a bit stuffy. I was strangely hungry today too. Usually I am not particularly hungry till sometime after 1pm but my coffee did not satiate me very well this morning. ZOMG! I used Cheryl's creamed cauliflower as a jumping point to make creamed broccoli and holy smoke it was awesome! I steamed the broccoli in the microwave. I put the grease and butter in the mixer and just melted it. Threw in the broccoli and bacon, whirled it and added the HWC along with S&P. I'll do that bacon grease, butter and bacon with the cauliflower next time I make that too.
