Ohhhh....Cheryl...thank you for posting that. And thank you, Darin, for your words of encouragement and logic. ....poking your body with a stick....love it. That's awesome. I'm so glad I found you all... I know, that really struck a cord with me. Glad it helped you too. I have done weight watchers and all kinds of diets but the support and resources that this site gives me is so much more valuable than anything I have ever had. When WW would stop working or I would gain I would just quit going. There was no real support at the meetings I attended. I can come here lose or gain and get help and support. Glad you found us too.

Also, Cheryl...to add to what you've said here.... I never trust anyone about diet/food/losing weight. To me, they all don't know squat about any of it. So, going to weight watchers or any of that would just be a waste of time for me b/c I would spend more time nixing everything they say while they are saying it than I would actually doing the program! Here I feel like I'm going to get sound advice and feedback that's worth exploring.

Man those sirloin pork chops I cooked yesterday were so dang good. That is why my protein was through the roof. I went ahead and made a recipe thread for that oven method. It is my new favorite way to cook pork.

I was out yesterday....and bumped into a lady from my old "Slimming World" days.....well, she was the group leader......I had to look twice....the poor woman has put all her weight back on, I used to envy her so much....but I'm half her size now. She told me she's given up because she's hungry all the time. I told her about the way I was eating.....but I don't think she's convinced. Be well and warm all of you! Darin.....you're such a "good guy" don't ever change....Blessings to all of you! x

Happy hump day! I completely forgot to weigh in this morning. Was up half the night between DS having nightmares then sleeping with me and doggie puking in my bed. I can definitely feel the sleep deprivation effecting my body. My numbers were mostly good yesterday and my sodium wasn't too high but my hands are swollen. Inflammation? What is the best way to fight that? Water? Probably just better sleep. I have a less stressful evening planned and hope to recoup some zzz's. Yesterday's numbers: Cals:1797 Fat: 137.83 Carbs:54.1 Prot: 80.68 B- Coffee w/ HWC & CO L- Salad bar w/ extra ham and egg D- Steak, onion & veggies Hey, my cals are pretty high for me! Gotta watch the carbs! Protein is pretty good for me too, however I am shooting for over 100. I'm going to foray into a health food type store in search of a reasonable protein powder/bars. I can't see any other way of getting my prot up with out it. So, suggestions? I dislike bars that are as sweet as chocolate (not a sweet tooth). Heard some may cause irritable stomach. Stick to whey, right? Loving on my coffee this morning. Hope Y'all have a wonderful day! Stay warm out there.

I have this shake that I've drank for several years with raw eggs, coconut oil and butter....then add boiling water to kill any possible ickies in it. Now, I just add hot coffee instead of the water and really enjoy it! I have lots of digestion issues and raw eggs are very easy for me to digest.

The isolate version of protein powders has less of an insulin response so look for that type. A big box store is going to be cheaper than a health food store I think. The Six Star Whey Isolate in the Decadent Chocolate flavor is very good and about $20 for a 1.5 pound tub and it is very low carb: www.walmart.com/ip/Six-Star-Pro-Nutrition-Whey-Protein-Isolate-Decadent-Chocolate-1.5-lb/15724167The Body Fortress Whey Protein in the chocolate PB flavor isn't bad but not as tasty as the Six Star brand and a bit carbier: www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Fortress-Chocolate-Peanut-Butter-Super-Advanced-Whey-Protein-Powder-1.95-lb/13274590... but much less expensive at $16 for almost two pounds. Right, get the whey type of protein rather than the soy type. The first Six Star shake I had did my my belly rumbly but I seem to have adapted to it. So, do your first shake with a bathroom conveniently located and don't let the first or second one put you off if it does have a mild laxative effect - you may just need an acclimation period.
