Ha! I just used my office mail scale to weigh my lunch! I had 1.6 oz broccoli, 1.1 oz cauliflower, and 2.2 oz baby carrots with my ranch dip. I'm eating half of my 16 oz cottage cheese container and will weigh it at the end to make sure I didn't eat more. (I'll account for the container). I don't know if it's as accurate as my kitchen scale but hey, good enough! Got my P3s to get me through my meetings.

Here's a funny. Looking at the back of the package of the frozen orange roughy to see what is the recommended minutes for cooking by saute. It said to use "low fat cooking oil." Seriously?
I downloaded the cookbook, too. Thanks.

Pam That is great thinking on Kristin's cravings. I remember one time I did a bunch of exercise over the weekend. On Monday I felt awful and was having awful carb cravings. I never craved carbs like that and had been NK adapted a long time so I thought it was weird. I talk with Darin about it and he mention it could be due to the over exercising. It very well may be that your body is recovering from that 5K and causing you do crave carbs. You may need to eat more for a few days too. Your body is rebuilding and repairing and you may need more calories. Keeping calories too low will just make the cravings worse. I really love all the feedback you guys are giving me. This is fantastic. Gives me ideas for things to pay attention to.....to learn what the truth is with my body. Love it. Thank you!

Scale back up to 159.8 for me. Trying to work this out in my head, where I'm going wrong or if I even am and my body is still working stuff out. It's just a tad frustrating that I'm ending February 1.2 lbs up from where it began.

Okay, Darin, so going back to your post on calories. I really appreciate the different scenarios! That helps me think it out in different ways. I keep trying to think about what I was doing right near the beginning of Feb, when the scale was steadily going down. (Perhaps, from posts you all have written previously, I'm not doing anything wrong and it's just my body doing it's thing....) BUT, I figure that I need to figure out how to *help* my body do it's thing. So, near the beginning of the month, I was just trying to get rid of the cravings and get into ketosis, and was not paying attention to calories in the slightest. I had calorie days like this: 2100/1400/2100/1400/2300 and then hit my lowest weight. With exercise that same week, my steps were 10k/10k/8k/10k/5k. So, some movement, but not a tremendous amount. I know where I want to go with this information, but please give me your thoughts....am I even headed in the right direction with these thoughts??

It has taken me a really long time to realize that I had the whole concept of weight loss wrong. I was seeing myself as a failure. I thought I was doing something wrong and I thought my weight said something about me or was always directly affected by what I ate and what I was doing wrong. Now I realize I had it all wrong. There is a lot more to losing weight than what I eat. Environment, hormones, water weight, metabolism, exercise .... there are so many factors. Also the crap I have done to my system dieting in the past. NK is different for me because I love eating this way, I do not feel deprived and I am much healthier. I enjoy the process. My body has a lot of problems dropping weight. Had I known 20 years ago what all that crappy WW and low fat and low calorie dieting was doing to my body I probably wouldn't be having such a hard time losing. Take the pressure off yourself. You are not who the scale says you are.

Happy Friday everyone. Yesterday ended up pretty good (mentally & emotionally). One of my late meetings was cancelled so I got home by 7:00. I was able to hit the grocery story on my lunch break to bring sicky home some supplies for today. So far I seem to be putting the family cold at bay. Keep your fingers crossed. Numbers for Thursday: Cals 939 Fat 69.43 Carbs 26.14 Prot 55.25 B- Coffee w/ HWC & CO L- Veggies w/ ranch, Cottage cheese D- Tuna, cheddar I had big plans of many big protein packed snacks, none of which came to fruition. I was simply too busy to eat and it was too late at night to snack by the time I got home. Good news is that I still have access to those snacks today. It is only 9:45 and I am actually hungry so off to the company fridge I go. Oh, and have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE my job?!?!?!? Received 8% raise today when we weren’t even expecting a COLA this year (And after my big screw up this week). I am having a VERY happy day!

Question for all of you bright people: could a carb indulgence one evening still be making your blood sugar wonky the next morning? It wasn't a huge indulgence, but I did have a LITTLE of the popcorn that my hubby and daughter were eating on Sunday night. Really, I swear, it wasn't much! Monday morning, I had a blood sugar crash before breakfast. Can my body not even handle a little occasional cheat like that, or was that coincidence? are you feeling better now Greta? Yes, thank you! Everything got back to normal after that one "episode".

It's just a tad frustrating that I'm ending February 1.2 lbs up from where it began. Kristin, your body has no idea that today is the last day of February. If yesterday was the last day of the month then you'd have ended the month down about a pound. Don't think in terms of right and wrong. There is only trying things and adjusting as you go. Even if you found the most perfect macros/calories/activity plan chances are it would stop working after some period of time because your body and your life are not static objects. Besides, who's the bestest Mom ever that just did a 5k run with her girls???

Or did what you were doing suddenly stop producing results? Give it some thought. Things that don't seem to have anything to do with diet can affect weight loss/gain.
