Weigh in today 155.6 for a .2 bump. Sigh of relief!
I am sore but feel really good this morning. I got some L-carnitine (tablets) from Swanson and eased into taking it. (I wonder if that had anything to do with my bump on the scale) I started on half a dose then waited 24 hours before I tried the second dose. I took some before my HIT yesterday. I can tell a definite difference in my muscles after a workout. (hope writing about it doesn't jinx me) For some reason this thyroid issue (or something) causes me to have a sneezing/allergic reaction to things. I used to think it was all environmental but I have realized it is also many times from things I ingest. Years ago when I took PTU I would have the most awful allergic reaction that would last for days. (of course the doc wrote 3 other RXs to help with the reaction to the PTU) When I finally came off of all PTU it got much better but still happens at times.
You usually have a big bounce post-HIT so point two is really good!

Weigh-in this morning... 170.9 for a point five bump. My magical IF decline has apparently paused but this is the sixth day at 170 or less.

Hello All, I’m back and ready to fight the good fight. I see everyone has had a good January. Some gains but mostly losses for the month. Congratulations. Hope everyone remains in good health. Spring would be nice any time now. Let’s be done with the winter crud! DH and I are back on the right track. Our lives go in a cyclical motion and sometimes we need to check in to see where we stand. I’ve gone back to work full time for 2 years now from being a stay at home Mom and a lot of the parenting now falls to my teacher husband (he gets off work in time to pick them up from school). We needed to re-establish our goals and reconnect as partners. We’re not perfect but we keep trying. 21 years is worth fighting for. I have gained weight in comfort eating & drinking. (Not to mention Super Bowl) but am bloated, gassy, IBS, and very uncomfortable. All the weight gain seems to be in my gut so I’m finding most of my go-to pants don’t fit well. I am very much looking forward to a NSV of pants fitting again. I now weigh the highest I’ve ever been. Weigh in today: 280.8 (That kinda hurt just writing it) Drinking my coffee w/ CO & HWC, planning a bacon and eggs lunch, and hoping for a steak dinner. I’ve put the office candy jar as far from my desk as possible and plan on restocking the break room and fridge with LC/HF snacks again like HWC, almonds/macadamia nuts, beef jerky/sausage bites whereas now it is coke, doughnuts, and mini snickers. My co-workers will thank me too. Happy Monday, everyone! Hope we all have a great week!

Hi everyone! It's been a busy, busy week/weekend here in Vegas. Biggest weekend of the year for us, down on the Las Vegas Strip. It's fun, but doesn't leave much time for getting in here to say hello! My weight for January ended exactly where it started. Well, at least it didn't go up. I know the general plan around here is to lose weight but treading a little bit of water while staying NK/LC is a bit different from not losing weight while eating (or starving yourself) the mainstream way because an NK/LC way of eating gives the body a chance to fix things. Thanks for the reminder, Darin.

Good morning, everyone! I'm back at work this morning and hoping for a quieter week here. Forgot to bring my lunch, so hoping for some chicken and boiled eggs in the employee dining room! Otherwise, I'll have to go looking for a burger somewhere.

Cheryl!! Quit that!! I noticed a couple of things. You usually have a big bounce this day post-workout and your protein has been creeping up lately. For example, only 2 of the last 14 days at or under 1.5g/kg. 5 of the last 14 near or over 2.0g/kg. Try cutting back on protein.

Okie dokie, cut protein and stop gaining weight, got it!

Oh, I like that feedback, Darin!!! Okay....I think I'm going to start posting my food intake and seeing if there is feedback you all can/will give me. Scale took a 3-pound jump this morning. Geez.

That usually happens to me a few days before my TOM. As reddarin says, you couldn't gain 3 lbs of fat overnight. Your body can fluctuate 4 pounds of water weight.

Happy Tuesday.
Yesterday's numbers: Cals 1537 Fat 127.89g Carbs 43.17g Prot 52.60g
B- Coffee w/ HWC & CO L- 2 eggs & 4 bacon, coffee w/ Half & Half D- 2 hot dogs, onion dip S- Cinnamon almonds
I had a glorious plan for a high protein dinner but plans changed when I got a call from a former boss for help with her Quick Books. So off I went and only ate what was in the fridge left over from super bowl. So really focusing on protein today. At least I bypassed the cheesecake and chips. Those really need to be gone by the time I get home tonight.
Weigh in 278.6 for -2.2 whoosh (characteristic of water weigh loss after a big cheat)
Been craving brussels sprouts of all things but I have to wait until DH is out of town next week. One of the smells he simply can not stand is oven roasted brussels sprouts. Oh. Num!

That very well could be, storytha (What's your name? ) , given the Asian food I had yesterday. Who knows... I don't eat out very often and don't remember if I gained after having it last time or not.

Yes, I did see him say that once before. Thanks for the reminder. Trying not to be frustrated though... My husband says that he's supportive of me losing weight, if that's what I would like to do, however there's no reason to be miserable along the way.

kristinsgoals Your husband is a wise man. Seems like men can look at weight loss more logically when women look at it emotionally. We will let the number on the scale ruin our whole day.
My husband gained 6 pounds over the Christmas holidays and he laughed about it. I asked him was he worried about it and he said no, and looked at me like I was an alien. He already lost it too.

Geez....men!! My husband is the same way. He can also weigh himself *sometime* throughout the day and accept that that is his weight right about now. Me?....no way, jose. There is one time of the day that I'm willing to weigh myself and that's it.

Seems like men can look at weight loss more logically when women look at it emotionally. Not so much logically as we can genuinely not give a crap about being "a bit heavy". Unless a guy is seriously fat, he thinks of it like that right there - "a bit heavy". I've said before how much I hated being fat when I while I was so fat for all those years. Right? The difference between men and women is that men don't hate it *all* the time. Generally, I could go without really thinking about how fat I was until something actively made me think about it. You know, like when I got dressed in the morning but unless something else happened during the day I wouldn't think about it again until I took a shower that night or the next morning. And we rationalize the fat away with ego boosting thoughts. Like, yeah, I am a bit heavy but damn I am good looking (seriously lol most guys think that way). Or I may be a bit pudgy but I can rebuild this engine better than anyone else in 100 miles. And when you ladies, the love of our life, tell us we look fine .... we believe you

This morning I was feeling pretty crappy about gaining. I Pmed reddarin for some advice. I thought I would post what he wrote to me because it really helped me and it might help you or someone else when they are struggling.
"Cheryl, you should change the way you are looking at things. It isn't a struggle with weight. Weight loss or gain is a side-effect of other bodily functions. See the difference? In the one case, *you* are a failure for being unable to lose weight on command. In the other case, losing weight is out of your hands in as much as direct control over autonomous functions are impossible. It isn't that losing weight is an exercise in futility. It is that recognizing that, essentially, diet is simply poking your body with a stick while shouting at it to lose some damn weight. Keeping the first principle at the forefront, that weight loss or gain is a by product of autonomous metabolic regulation, makes it possible to avoid feeling like you are failing at something. Get it?
Don't be discouraged. I know it sucks and I am not saying to dismiss the suckiness of the situation. Don't let it get you down."
