Here is a cool story. Early last year, or maybe late the year before, I randomly ran across this blog of this girl who does a unique cartoon? comic strip? no maybe illustrated blog is a good description. Her sense of humor is played out in the stories she tells with the illustrations she draws. Her drawings are not glamorous - primitive is what you'd say at first glance but there is skill belying the simple nature and the characters are extraordinarily expressive. It is like she's perfected how to draw with understatement and the punch is enhanced because of it. That is what I think anyway. So. I ran across her blog back then and lost track of it like so many cool things I run across on the Internet. But something in the last three or four days made me think about her. it was something silly my dog Pepper had done that reminded me of her because the post with which I discovered her was about her two dogs - one doggie that brings down the IQ curve for the rest of dogkind and one doggie that is smart, protective of the brainless doggie and a drama queen. I thought, man, I wish I could find her blog again. But how? I can, and do, find a lot of stuff just going by vague recollections but finding a hard to describe picture??? Impossible. And then, over on Fat Secret I was looking through that lighter side thread and ... there was a pic that had obviously been drawn by that blogger! lol Wow! Okay, I had the pic but how to find the blog??? I searched google for the URL that pointed at the pic and then switched to Image Search (google prompted it since the URL pointed at a pic) and ... viola! there was her blog still going and still funny as hell. hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2013/10/menace.htmlThe dog who proves cat owners right and the post I found originally: hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/07/dog.htmlThe post about this dog, the other dog and the house move adventure: hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/11/dogs-dont-understand-basic-concepts.html

The cartoon artist does have a distinct and fun style. Thanks for sharing.
BK this morning: .9
Glad to know that I am firmly in NK. Now I want the scale number to move downward. Ha!

I think I've only had one real case of the flu in my life and that was 20 years ago and I still remember how awful it was. Has your medicine(s) helped with the RA? Welcome back and Happy post-being-sick New Year!

BK 2.3 This is a wonderful number though my schedule was different this morning. This reading was taken 2.5 hours after rising and I'd had coffee with coconut oil by the time I got by my meter. We've had a change in care for my mom, I am sleeping there for now. I didn't take my meter with me last night. Either way, this is great!

I'm not sure how long they stay elevated after consuming CO though.

Weigh-in this morning... 174.3 for a point two bump Do you think you are adding more muscle mass since starting the protein drinks?

Do you think you are adding more muscle mass since starting the protein drinks? Nope. But they sure do taste good lol Greg E. from the Paleo Solution podcast said (in one of them) that only 25% are positive responders to Creatine??? I hadn't seen or heard that before but RW didn't say anything about it when Greg made the assertion so there ya go. I *think* my chest is a little more muscular but I believe that is from adding the (wide arm) dips a few workouts ago. I think I injured my right pec at some time in the past because the outer lower portion of that muscle looks very strange almost like the muscle is missing. Weird huh? There is no pain and I've never had the sort of bruising that you'd get when you blow a muscle out. Having been out of shape and fat for a few decades it is hard to say when that might have happened. I'm trending up on weight so I am going to try to curtail protein and calories to a more reasonable level. There is something hedonistic about pigging out like I have while not really gaining a lot of weight but I really would like to see a six pack and eating a bajillion calories and crazy amounts of protein isn't going to make that happen lol.

Gotta have those black-eyed peas for Good Luck in 2014! I discovered that they don't raise my carb count that much.

Our neighbor's mom had Alzheimer's. She would sit and tell us stories about her childhood and remember them in the most detail but you could not leave her alone for a minute. The only thing they could ever get her to eat was little Debbie snack cakes.

Coconut oil (or MCT oil) will raise your BK levels. I'm not sure how long they stay elevated after consuming CO though. Or how long it takes for them to show up. Someone out in the world might know but it isn't me. I brought my bk meter this evening for in the morning.

Mom enjoys carbs much more than I do. We might eat the same thing at night but more and more not as the idea is to get as many calories in her as possible each time she eats. Last night she had a chocolate milkshake for dinner. Tonight it was rice and gravy. This is very different eating for than just a week ago. Today's companion said that Mom ate during the day today a two-egg omelet, oatmeal, toast. I don't think all at once. Mom's lost most of her communication ability. She can physically talk but her brain isn't cooperating.

I think it can be as quick as within minutes on an empty stomach. As I understand it, the medium chain triglycerides get moved to the front of the digestion line for conversion to ketone bodies.
