:DThanks for the playlist, the Cult always puts a smile on my face. DH did his New years cooking yesterday. Side meat, cabbage, black eyed peas and corned beef. I think all that sodium in the cured side meat is what did me in on the weigh in today. BUT, I had been trending down after TOM and that doesn't seem to be happening this month.

Helllo, I'm back and all moved to Tennessee. I really like it here, but we will see where we end up! Still looking through the Wheat Belly cookbook and will get back to y'all about any recipes I deem keto worthy!
Have been going to the gym on Fort Campbell daily since Monday.. working on getting some strength back since I took about a month off to focus on finals and whatnot. Fort Campbell is HUGE. 6 gyms. Nice PX. Not bad. I had been eating low carb not counting lately because of moving craziness, but time to start tracking again. I packed my food scale away. Psh. Guess I can eyeball it.
Rejoice, I saw your question on the December thread just now-- I got my degree in accounting. Versatile, and I like it. It suits me.
I hope everyone's new year is going well! I should be around more often since my schedule is now filled with a whole lotta nothing!

I fasted over 20 hours from Wednesday evening until late this afternoon, just to see if I could. I stuck with black coffee only because the bulletproof coffee stimulates my appetite. I was hungry when I got home from work but not ravenous.
I ate all this between 5:30 and 8:00 pm: a half cup of chicken salad, small avocado, bunless bacon cheeseburger, plain Greek yogurt, coffee with hwc.

bulletproof coffee stimulates my appetite. That's fascinating about the bulletproof coffee. When I do it, which isn't often because I think it is more trouble than the benefits, I am not hungry for hours.

bulletproof coffee stimulates my appetite. Hmmmm. I've seen posts from other people before saying that CO made them hungry. Maybe try just buttered coffee? Or even butter and EVOO?

Lots of people serious about fitness. I figure that cookbook has got to be full of good recipes. Every one Dr. Davis has sent out to his blog subscribers has looked very tasty.

I have tried leaving out the CO and using hwc and butter, or only hwc. Still wind up hungry within a few hours. I know fat by itself isn't supposed to create an insulin response, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I mean, the only thing in common in those tweaks is the caffeine in the coffee. Maybe the stimulant plus the liquid calories is causing the strange response? Do you normally continue drinking coffee after your morning dose? If so, I'd try sticking to decaf for at least an hour after the BPDC and then switching to regular coffee.

My daughter will love this! She's always looking for decorating ideas for Halloween - her favorite holiday. Thanks! Right!?! That is such a cool idea lol Yep, she did indeed love it. I guess we'll be saving toilet paper rolls for months now!

Weigh-in this morning... 173.9 for a bump of point six. My pattern is not consistent for this day post-HIT. By the way, the reason I use HIT as my pattern anchor is that exercise of any sort is inflammatory and it is interesting to crossroad HIT and scale weight.

Food log for 1/2/14 fat 119 protein 44 carbs 14 82.19493477 % 13.50729087 % 4.297774367 %
breakfast: coffee, 5 oz HH, 2 tbsp EVCO, 1 splenda packet lunch: private selection hard salami, boars head colby jack cheese snack: 2 serv beef broth and 1/4 tsp real salt added dinner: microwave bacon, 2 oz HWC, coffee, 1 splenda
Sodium was like 4730mg and felt great at the end of the day. Did get some water in but still need to increase.
WI this morning 182.2! YAAAY - now I can have a good day here and there, the goal is to string them together. I'm home from work today, not feeling the best and a bit stressed about finances which for me has been a trigger/excuse to binge eat - when I am struggling to pay bills I want to EAT and staying home all day...challenge but I want so badly to feel better. I'm trying really hard to mentally just be positive and focus on important things. I went to visit my mom at the skilled nursing home she's in now (went last night after "dinner" which was like 530 so fasted 530p to 830a so far, just a side note lol) and she's not doing too well, it's not a great place but family telling me that's just how it is...the good news is she's supposed to eventually move out of there to more of a rehab place so hoping it's better service. It's hard because I feel terrible she's there and then when I'm there I get angry with her for such negativity. My aunt's daughter, she's like 20, in a serious/committed relationship so far for several years, she's always been an old soul, announced at Christmas she's now having a baby, she's thrilled. I'm happy for her, why not. My mom says, oh that's just what she needs, blah blah and talked crap about them. It made my blood boil. It was all I could do to not go off, but you can't change someone who only sees negative and man, does negativity spread! So, instead of getting into it w/ her I just let it go and refused to let it bring me down and if anything gave me extra motivation to try even harder to BE POSITIVE. Anyway, just rambling...off to watch Bravo! Have no food in the house, not a bad thing lol, but do have to run to the store for some MEAT and EGGS and HWC mmm. Hope y'all have a GREAT Friday!!!

:hugs:Robin! HOORAY! Great weigh in! HOORAY! Great that you are staying positive. Yes negativity does spread. It takes tons of self discipline to stay positive especially when you around someone covered in bad chi. Your mom has every right to be down and out but it won't help her at all. Do you think she is dealing with depression? Anyway, I just had to say what a great job you are doing. January is an awful hard month financially on a lot of people. Hope it gets easier.

Do you think she is dealing with depression? Anyway, I just had to say what a great job you are doing. January is an awful hard month financially on a lot of people. Hope it gets easier. Thanks! I was thinking the same about your WI! Woo! She isn't dealing too well and is on a few different scripts for "mood" - one is Xanax and I'm not sure what the other is; she's been on Xanax for 19 years solid. She knows she is not dealing with this well and that she's depressed. She mentioned getting counseling to deal with the paralysis but that will take time I'm sure and in the mean time she's not positive or optimistic about anything, ever, she has always kinda been that way but now it's x1000. I know this isn't easy for her and I hate where she's at but wish so much she could focus on getting better but instead she cries all the time and is so unhappy it's all she focuses on...I can't say what I would do, can't know until I am in her shoes but it's so draining and I wish she could try to just heal and not be in so much pain, so yeah, it's been a rough few months and yes, that's so true about Jan! I do think it will get easier and when I eat NK I actually stay on budget better because I'm not buying the $$$ LC Prot bars at GNC all the time, that kinda stuff. I hope you're having a great day so far! I had roast with salt and sour cream and 2 pc of cheese, coffee and HWC/splenda for "brunch" - will prob have another coffee with HWC later today to make sure my fat is up and then for dinner we are going out for a date night, my guy is so sweet so will be eggs/bacon and then coffee with HH, going to try and go easy on the HH/splenda since it will be 3rd cup of coffee... I'm lounging on the couch, my SO left work early to come hang with me, aww, he's so cute. He's working out and I'm watchin Ancient Aliens good times!

Hey Robin, I learned a technique long ago that you might find to be of help in certain situations. A friend showed me this once. It is how she handles her mom's negative talk. When my friend knew it was the right time (could be right away); she smiled at her mom with love and changed the subject. No chastising her mom, no making faces, none of that. And she would do that repeatedly as needed. EDIT: Then as needed, my friend would get alone, scream into a pillow or bang her head against a wall. Less of that reaction, I find in myself, the more I use the technique.

So, instead of getting into it w/ her I just let it go and refused to let it bring me down and if anything gave me extra motivation to try even harder to BE POSITIVE I find it VERY hard not to let myself be influenced by the negative moods of my loved ones. I'm so glad you were able to stay positive.

My addendum is change the subject to something of direct interest to the other person. I'm not judging but usually that means something about that person or something that impacts that person or something that that person has talked about before... see the pattern?

The reason I said "I am not judging" is because I think negative people are narcissistic - I am not judging your Mom, Robin. That is why changing the subject the way I described works so well. It isn't about normal conversation in those situations. I am not being judgmental because we are all like that to some degree when we feel negative. With her situation it is very understandable that it'd be ramped up to a high level.

Monday's numbers: Cals 1503 Fat 130.65 Carb 28.88 Prot 59.91 B-Coffee W/ HWC & CO, hardboiled egg L-Salad bar w/ ham & egg D-Taco bake w/ sour cream S-cinnamon almonds I made sure I ate protein at every meal yesterday. The total number isn't very high but I think it helped me deal with a very stressful day. Work is very stressful right now. DH is still off work but didn't do anything helpful. After work I had to go get our prescriptions and go to the store for dinner. But by gosh he found the time to go buy a new Blu-ray player without telling me. I got home after 6:00 to a sink full of dishes and the laundry basket full of clean towels next to the couch still not folded. SIGH! Also his sister was visiting so we didn't get to eat dinner until close to 8:00. I didn't get to bed until midnight. Also very stressed about our finances. I know we’re talking about negativity right now, but yesterday sucked! Very thankful it’s Friday. Good news is I didn’t turn to junk food to sooth me and today is a new day. RoBiN <3, I am very sorry your Mother isn’t dealing with her depression well. That sucks too.

I have learned with dear husband that if there something you want them to do you have to ask them directly. You could say, It would make me so happy if you would pick up the RX at the pharmacy and have dinner ready. I used to think men could see things that need to be done just like us ladies do. They don't, but they see other things that we don't see, like dents in the hood of the car.

I haven't tried making BPC with decaf, but really I'm fine with sticking to black coffee and water during the fasting period. I mainly posted to share my experience, because I know from reading other accounts that I'm not the only one. Today I broke my fast after 17 hours by snacking on almonds. I'm home early from work and making ro-tel dip for dinner.

I read Gust Front first but the Hymm of Battle is actually the first book in the series or it is a prequel to the first book. Either way, good mind candy if you like military SF.
