Weigh-in this morning... 173.4 for a two point five drop and back to last Thursday's WI The shockingly cool thing, though, is that I've just been going by my scale's BF% which is notoriously inaccurate and shows me at 20%+ BF. But I googled around for a BF% calculator and measured my neck and waist (15.5 and 35 inches) with my height an even 72 inches. My current body fat percentage is... 17.5%!! Holy crap! I was thinking I still had miles to go to break the 20% mark /bonk the scale. Just out of curiosity, I plugged my numbers in to the calorie calculator at that site and according to the formula those things use, I should eat only about 2000 calories to maintain my weight as a sedentary person. I only work out once a week and the entire WO is usually under 25 minutes with very little activity otherwise (porch and stair rebuilding not withstanding). If I use the 'lightly active' modifier, 2300 should be the max to maintain my weight. That is the squishy thing about those calculators. Whatever modifier you choose, if the results are not in-line with what the calculator spits out then the calculator isn't wrong - you are. Call me cynical, but how the mainstreamer's square reality with CICO makes me question their sanity and, frankly, their intelligence. Can't lose weight on the stupid 'eat less move more well balanced calorie restriction' "plan"? Then you are wrong, not the plan. Now, who the heck does that make sense to? Essentially, the mainstream hordes are saying, who are you gonna believe, us or your lying eyes? When the College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association produce their report, which is used to support the "energy balance" voodoo, they even admit that despite vast quantities of data, the link between physical activity and weight maintenance/gain/loss is just not there. You'd think that two such prestigious institutions would, therefore, abstain from claiming that exercise is linked to weight as an established fact but you'd be wrong because before and after they admit the fact of the matter they do just that. Does that bother anyone in the mainstream?? Heck no. Those zombies are oblivious to thorny contradictions. But if you believe that *what* you eat is of no importance because CICO then you *must* ignore contrary facts or your stupid house of cards tumbles down. The "well balanced" poop is just that - poop. They *always* throw that part overboard when you get down to the nitty gritty because CICO is Lord and Master of the universe. WB is always excused as the healthy approach but in the end it doesn't matter because if you were strapped to a gurney and starved you'd lose weight and therefore CICO. 98% failure rate and recidivism for dieting and weight gain? Peshaw! We cannot let reality get in the way of message and the message is CICO ELMM WB. LC only works because you magically created a calorie deficit when you failed to do so with the mainstream BS. And the explanation? Well, with LC you are an idiot savant because now you are intuitively creating the mystically correct calorie deficit. When you were a failure the mainstream way, you were just an idiot. See how that works? /end rant I get so dang angry about the mainstream state of affairs having been a fat obese victim of it for years and years. I remember the horrors of my fatness like it was yesterday. Towards the end there, before LC, come 5pm or so I couldn't keep my eyes open - I'd fall asleep sitting up. I couldn't tie my shoes without putting a foot on the side of the bed. I couldn't lean over and pet my dog who is a big fan of being petted. I couldn't get jeans buttoned if they were fresh out of the dryer. I had to put up with people thinking I was fat because I was lazy and stupid, I knew it because on occasion they'd be so exasperated that they'd let it show even though they were polite enough to not voice what they were thinking. Okay, now my rant is done.

I enjoyed your rant, Reddarin.
Still sticking with my plan. This is day 5 for me. I will be glad when I get back into NK. It's such a great feeling. I don't know why I ever stray. Here's my numbers for the day:
1844 calories 94 grams protein 156 grams fat 16 net carbs
I am so hoping my friend checks out the boards. She is interested in trying NK because nothing else has worked for her, and I can testify to her willpower to stick with a plan.

Did great yesterday. I'm so happy to say that. I managed to hit about 2 L of water but also had 3 large coffees so probably more water than I drank in the month of Oct lol...had brisket that I'd stuck in the crock pot with eggs and butter and lots of salt, it was good! for a late snack (about 915p) i had a little bowl of organic PB that i made at HyVee fresh mixed with EVCO then stuck in freezer to get hard then ate it w/ spoon, so yummy. today started with coffee, 4 oz HWC, 2 tbsp liquid CO, and a Gnc Pro Performance Lean Muscle Meal Ready to Drink Shake - Chocolate Milkshake (Fys), 1 bottle (14 fl oz). I bought another box of bacon to eat about 11ish. I do think my appetite is under control; felt kinda hungry suddenly this morning so that's the high fat coffee...helped big time! Stayed off the scale, woot - have a great Thurs! HOORAY Robin!! One day at a time! You are doing Great!!

Is anyone still using gelatin? I got a package of NOW brand unflavored beef gelatin to use as a supplement. It has a slight odor, but not so overwhelming that I'd hesitate to use it in a dessert. Mostly I will probably just stir a spoonful into a cup of hot broth or soup. I'm hopeful that taking gelatin will benefit my skin. I don't have a lot of wrinkles even at my advanced age, but the sagginess makes me look and feel older. The glycine in gelatin is also supposed to improve mood and sleep.

@bunniee, I have started using the Great Lakes Gelatin. I got the collagen hydrolysate. You can mix it in hot or cold beverages. I hope it is helping. My skin is a bit saggy. I have some smile lines too. My fingernails are growing like crazy and I have never had fingernails.

I didn't want to go above 1500 calls a day as my caloric requirement was only like 1990 and I want to lose so I dropped down to 1500. You might try eating closer to 1900 to see if that nudges your body into shedding weight. Too much of a relative calorie deficit can be stressful on the body which discourages weight loss. And the BMR calculators are always just rough guesses on expenditure. Ok, I took your advice and added some more fat to ease my hunger so I consumed 1,741 today (83% fat). I'll post my log after I do my evening BK test.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about gelatin helping nails grow. I have a bad habit of picking at mine. The only way I've been able to stop is if I use clear nail polish, but I got lazy and stopped taking care of my nails.
I looked at the Great Lakes brand but it has gotten so expensive. I figure the NOW brand would be good enough for now.

My mom and Dad bought a case and we split it so I got it cheaper. It was like 22 bucks on Amazon. I got lucky. I was just eating jello before they bought the case. When I make jello I mix extra knox gelatin in the mix.

Log for 7 Nov Calories: 1,781
FAT: 165g PROTEIN: 71g CARBS: 16g
Fasting BK - .6 2hrs after last meal – .8
BREAKFAST: LCHF Smoothie (coconut milk, HWC, 3 oz strawberries, 3 ozs Ice, 2 cups of spinach, flax meal, and a wee bit of banana, and started using my MCT oil) Lunch: Tilapia and BPC Dinner: Tuna in a cream cheese, lemon juice, extra light olive oil dressing and some pork rinds
Today I began adding MCT oil to my menu. I used very little in my morning smoothie as I wasn't sure how it would make me feel. Tonight I used 1 tsp in my tuna mix. My evening BK is one digit higher than yesterdays. I think for me the answer is the coconut oils and not so much dairy/animal fat.

I've been supplementing with extra zinc for 2 weeks now, and it's made a noticeable difference in my mood and sleep quality. I'm not the least bit depressed, which is highly unusual for me in the fall/winter season (or heck, any time of year). If any of you are experiencing the winter blues or S.A.D., maybe look into taking zinc. I'm using 20 mg of zinc monomethionine, which is supposed to be better absorbed and not cause upset stomach. 50 mg is supposed to be the maximum dose, but I don't see any need to increase my dose because 20 mg seems to be working just fine. Effect of zinc supplementation in anti-depression treatment
Effect of zinc supplementation on mood states - this study was on young women but I am noticing far less anger/irritation, so it may be effective for old folks too.

I'm about to stop my ADep meds (under a doctors' supervision) to see if I can live without it. I'm about half size right now and it's been okay until lately (ToM). I'll definitely need something for that, so I'm going to try the zinc in addition to the flax that was mentioned on the other thread. :0)

That is worst thing about daycare. But I am better off than the centers. They are already having a lot worse things going around than a stuffy nose.

Happy Friday, so ready for it! Yesterday I stayed up WAY too late working on a last minute presentation that I gave at 8a; it went well but did cause me to stress a bit and ended up eating the last few LC prot bars I'd had out of sight(but clearly not out of mind, lol) so at least they are GONE...my SO has some but I plan to leave them alone - he eats a LOT of protein daily and he needs it and he likes that packaged stuff so good, has to be out of mind for those since they are in sight Anyway today so far only had roughly 2 oz of HWC in coffee with splash of SF vanilla syrup; finding I can use less seems like so at least it's not a ton of artificial crap...I'm not feeling hungry at all - a little head achy so right now I'm drinking 32 oz mixed berry powerade zero (hmmm...more artificial crap lol) and when I'm done I'm going to fill the bottle back up with our culligan water here at work the goal is to refill at least 2 times for 64oz plain water - shouldn't be too difficult, right! Still haven't WI and not feeling overly stressed about the "unknown". Happy that I'm not starving - can tell TOM right around the corner so that will probably be out the window soon. We have a date tonight so will be eating out but will prob do bacon/eggs instead of the omelette they stuff w/ cheese and veggies...it's just too much food even for the half order! Hope you all have a GREAT day!

Today is my birthday and one of the kids brought me some awesome aloe infused fuzzy socks. We all sat down on the fuzzy rug for a story and the kids got all situated. On little guy that is 3 looked at my feet and his eyes got really big, then he snuggled his face into my socks and let out a big ole sigh.
