Weigh in: 171.8 for a point six drop. I'm hoping my weight won't bounce around so much this month, and that I finally get below 170.

I went to the grocery store earlier to pick up a few things, and they had boneless pork chops on sale for $2 per pound. It's been ages since I've had pork chops, I don't know why I haven't been buying them. Even at full price they don't cost much more than ground beef or chicken, and may even be cheaper. I'm going to try the pork chop seasoning I got from Penzeys - it's a blend of salt, hickory smoke, garlic, onion, white pepper and ginger.

clueless - Your new profile pic looks great! I think I know why I only lost 1 lb in September. My work hours changed when I went full time, and having to get up an hour earlier affected my sleeping pattern. I need to be in bed before 10 pm if I'm to get enough sleep.

Hmmm. I've been thinking about the end of month WI ever since it was suggested. Here are my observations concerning it. The idea of defining weight loss success based on calendar dates sounds good but in practice it leaves a lot to be desired. If you think about it, you are not observing a trend over time by comparing two data points. That old math saw about two points making a line but a third point is required to check the line applies because a line is meaningless without the context of a graph. But you need more than three data points to form a meaningful graph of information. A long time ago (on the Evil Forum) I made a post about the shifting window of water weight that Dr. Phinney spoke of in the Long Term Stalls podcast. What he said was that any given person has a plus or minus two pound fluctuation in water weight so you can lose four pounds in four weeks, which is awesome, but if your water weight is up at the end of the four week period it can completely or partially hide the fat loss. Sort of like those horizontal blue lava lamps from the 70s and 80s. It would be more informative to keep an eye on a rolling four week average of weigh-ins. Or even a rolling four week window of lowest weigh-in for that moving window if you are fastidious about staying on plan with no excursions to Carb Land. But two calendar dates are very arbitrary for tracking weight loss. For example, on 8/31 my WI was 179.4 and on 10/03 it was 179.5. That looks terrible. But my rolling four week average, that is the average of weigh-ins for the four week window ending on 8/30 was 181.53 and on 10/02 it was 178.11. So the reality is that my weight trended down about three pounds over that period but just picking two dates that are ~four weeks apart (e.g. calendar dates) shows bad news and completely hides the weight loss. Also, what was going on at the end of last month in your life? TOM? Did you have a cold? Injured? Flare up of some condition? Stress in the home? Workout too much? Trouble sleeping? All that stuff can affect your acute weigh-in for days or even weeks. So, don't get discouraged by a bad weigh-in that happens to coincide with the end of the month. Keep an eye on the trend over time. If you track the end of month WI be sure to make a note for yourself what was going on that day or week.

Boy I bet she feels so much better without the hives! Man lol. Hives and all that *plus* she lives at ground zero for the cold epidemic in your state If she needs a character witness for emancipation I am available and willing to testify to the various tree snakes that also drop in from time to time.

clueless love the new pic! so glad to see your DD is feeling better! how stressful! I haven't stopped trying to be NK but haven't been good about tracking anything or WI. Today decided I better stop foolin around and get with the program. They found some major health stuff with my mom this week that has caused me a LOT of stress and eating was HORRIBLE...too scared to get on the scale so just not going to worry about it but am worried about my terrible eating habits...So in an effort not to let it spiral out of control I'm doing better today with weighing/tracking foods. So far today: fat 80 protein 11 carbs 7 90.90909091 % 5.555555556 % 3.535353535 % Total Cals approx 792 2,156 for sodium Feeling headachy right now but just got some pickle juice so expecting to feel better...didn't want to worry about food too much today so aiming for a FF kinda day...planning to have meat/eggs/fat for dinner but trying to keep calories lower and fat super high for today. No workouts and it is driving my SO nuts - oh the h*ll well is my response LOL he's a HUGE fitness buff; works out LITERALLY 2-3x per day - minimum of 2x daily period. He is a nut. Not my problem! So yeah, I know he's trying to come from a good place to help my stress levels but I don't want to hear about it so shut the heck up is my initial reaction LOL...he is DEF never going to buy into "working out isn't needed" type of thing...his fitness goals are not for weightloss but to feel better, stress relief..fun (gross...) so yeah he wants me on board to make sure I live a longer healthy life but guess what I'M STRESSED and feel like I don't have enough time in the day to do ANYTHING...so yeah yeah, I know it's all excuses and I should find the time...but working out to relieve stress that is caused by the reminder that I need to workout isn't HELPING me LOL...so yeah, I'm a bit frazzled but sticking to this WOE cuz I do believe it's the best for me. Hopin everyone is having a GREAT week so far! I prob won't get to touch base with the group until next week so enjoy the weekend everyone!

RoBiN <3 Take a breath and hug yourself. Life is crazy and you have a ton going on, stop stressing about workouts. Get you some me time and relax. If you get a chance when things calm down listen to the podcast with Mcguff. 12 minutes a week is all you need and all that cardio is just taking up valuable time and energy. That guy is really on to something. Men are so different than women. Your SO and you may need different things to control your stress. If you are struggling with high cortisol then cardio workouts and such can make that worse. One big signal that you have high cortisol is not being able to wind down and go to sleep at bed time. Ya know, you are tired during the day but wired at bed time and stay up too late. Don't know, but have been read that the supplement Rhodiola is helpful with cortisol. Also a little exercise called heartmath. You can Google a youtube video, it is super easy and only takes a couple of minutes. Wish I was close by so I could run over and give you a big hug and a break.

I also got earplugs because even when I tried going to bed early, I would wake up when my roommate was getting ready for work and making a bunch of noise.

Weigh in: 173 for a 1.6 lb bounce. My allergies are in full attack mode, so it's probably just inflammation.
I forgot to take measurements in September, so I did that today. I'm down a half inch in my waist and hips since my last measurement.
ETA: Correction, got my measurements wrong before.
