I kind of wish I got psychotic energy bursts from EVCO Casey ) I actually wind up having 1T before bed and it seems to do the opposite to me... in the absence of my morning cup of tea it actually seems to calm me down! One pound overnight is pretty great though, especially with TOM creeping up like that. What do you normally see from a FF? And hey, I'm of the mindset of "do whatever makes you feel good" so if being active makes you feel better than not being active that's great I bet that way even if you DO slow your weight loss, you'll at least see lots of health gains which is really the most important aspect of this WOE I think! My reservations are less on the weight loss side and more on the "hey, you could collapse and put yourself into adrenal crisis" side... sometimes I wish I didn't feel like curling up under covers all day, but I'll get there some day I think!

I made myself go back and log everything I ate yesterday, and it added up to 1700 calories. Not quite as much as I thought. It just felt like I ate a huge amount of food, because I ate 2 meals and 2 snacks. Most of the time I only eat 2 meals a day. My temp agency set up a job interview for me tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers in hope that it works out, but it sounds like I'll be a good match. Being on NK is really stretching my grocery budget, and I need to find work soon if I want to continue. Woohoo! Good luck with that interview... I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

The last time I did a concerted effort fat fast, I sat on my lazy butt for 3 days eating nothing but 90% fat/1000 calories and went from 129 to 120.8 in 72 hours. I think a majority of it was water weight though.

I can only hope sitting on my lazy butt might have a similar effect, but I'm seriously banking on seeing a gain somehow tomorrow or something )

Melanie, have you noticed that you dream more since taking Hawthorn?
I have been dreaming almost every night. No bad dreams. Most of them are actually feel good type dreams where things are going well or I feel good about something or other. I actually kind of like it but it is strange. Ordinarily my overactive imagination can turn any dream into a hellish nightmare. That is one reason why I don't watch scary horror movies or movies with a lot of brutality content.

Huh, that's actually interesting about you not watching movies like that... I would have assumed you would have gotten into them, being a zombie fan. But maybe you like the cheeky campy zombie flicks better That's really interesting that you mention the dreaming thing though. I typically dream quite often anyway, so I'm not sure if it's really from the hawthorn or what on my end... but I do seem to be having more of the feel good type of dreams lately versus bad ones, which I was having quite regularly myself. Not so much nightmares or horror type things for me when I have bad dreams, but usually they're emotional ones... to where something happens to someone I love, or I see my mom again or something who's been gone for quite some time now. I've been having more normal dreams lately for sure, and more feel good ones too. I wonder if there is a connection? What I do know is that hawthorn is also supposed to act as a relaxant, and is supposed to help anxiety and stress. I almost wonder if that's what's going on with both of us? Maybe when our minds and bodies are stressed (from higher BP and from unconscious thoughts alike I'd assume) we're more likely to have that manifest negatively in our dreams, and when that's alleviated somewhat we're able to find more peace in dream land too? Just a thought! I'm really glad you brought that up though, because I really have only had 1 bad dream since starting the hawthorn and they were VERY common for me before... and I think the bad dream was associated with normal daytime worry rather than anything my brain just conjured up for me

Well, if it is from the hawthorn it is a pleasant side-effect The kind of horror I do not like and won't watch is usually the sort that has a lot of brutality and shock the audience scenes. I don't mind the occasional whathaveyou leaping out making me jump and yell but if it happens too much I lose interest in the film. Too frequent and it makes me feel abused by the people that created the show. However, I make exceptions for SF horror and zombie horror. Like "Event Horizon". That was a very awesome movie but if it wasn't an SF story I wouldn't have given it the time of day. 13 Ghosts is an odd one for me. I really liked the movie but normally that sort of movie would not last 10 mins before I was outta there. The story was interesting and the actors were good. Campy is okay with me if it is funny to me. Shaun of the Dead was funny and still a great movie.

We watched Lawless this weekend. O man it was a really good movie but the violence haunted me for a few days. I keep a pillow handy to cover my face when there is violence.

Campy is okay with me if it is funny to me. Shaun of the Dead was funny and still a great movie. Awww yeah, I loved Shaun of the Dead... I still haven't seen Zombieland though, but I've heard good things there. I pretty much don't mind much of anything, I'll watch whatever when it comes to horror if it's good. Or if it's comically bad even ) I usually find myself WANTING to have to jump out of my seat or be uncomfortable, because to me that's horror doing its job. I SHOULD be frightened. Unfortunately it's really hard to gross me out or scare me, LOL. I watched Hostel and thought it wasn't gross enough. I watched the newer Texas Chainsaw Massacre and laughed at it while other people gasped. I have a freaking fear of clowns and I purposely put myself in a haunted house FULL of clowns, simply because I WANTED to be scared for once... and it sorta worked I'm grossed out by much weirder stuff it seems. Gore? Fine. I can watch Discovery Health and watch people being sawed open while I eat dinner. But when I saw Drag Me To Hell, there was a scene where an old gypsy lady essentially drools all over someone and slobbers on them... and THAT grossed me out, of all things Did you mean 13 Ghosts as in the original film btw? Or the updated one with Matthew Lillard and that dude from Monk? I saw the newer one a lot when I was a kid and really enjoyed it, even though it was pretty cheesy... my dad enjoys the original, but I haven't sat through it yet. I haven't watched too many movies lately really at all, lol.

Well, I stuck 100% to my planned fat fast today... so we'll see how that goes in the morning. Still nervous about the salt pushing I did earlier for the bromide toxicity, but it was only once so I'm hoping I won't see a crazy bounce from that or anything. I didn't struggle TOO much with hunger issues which is nice. I thought I'd feel like I was starving the whole time, but really I only felt sorta hungry once in a while and the rest of the time just felt some place in the middle. Not super hungry, not full... just kind of there I also picked up some more supplements that I'll be taking starting tomorrow, which is just blahhhhh I already take so much but hopefully it helps. Some of it is probably stuff I should have been taking all along that my doctor would have recommended to me at this coming appointment anyway so I suppose it's better to just start it up and get it out of the way. Hoping for a much better weigh-in in the morning, but not holding my breath. Still not sure if tomorrow will be another fat fast day or if I'll go straight to a meat and egg fast or something. I wish there was some sort of easy answer and easy solution to what's going on with my body sometimes, but at least I know what may be causing me some grief at this point. Hooray for not being COMPLETELY in the dark? )

Darin, WTH!!! I'm out of pocket for 4 days and you ALL pack up and leave town. Nevertheless, I love the new site. Miss the weigh in portion of FS. I liked it. Well, my Florence Nightingale impersonation was a bust. The old lady is much worse than I was told. She needed a young, strapping girl to tote her around and that ain't me. Ha. I'm too old and out of shape to do so. But I was able to get her a new person. (And I'm not even going there with the diaper stories.) ) I will go see her daily and cook for her. Don't know about the PHD diet. I haven't been able to weigh yet but I'm probably up a few pounds. I missed being with you guys. Glad to be back. Hugs

Ah I was just listening to a JM podcast about sleeping. It was interesting but the guest, author of Lights Out, said some pretty silly stuff.

Blah, only down .5 pounds this morning from the fat fast... at least it wasn't a gain I guess, but I can't even say it's FROM the fat fast. I might have even wound up losing the half pound had I stuck to my normal schedule. I was kind of hoping for something a bit more drastic than that I also had quite the bout of insomnia last night... I don't know if anyone's ever gotten that while fat fasting? Not so much that I woke up (well, I did... but I ALWAYS wake up after a few hours, and then again and again and again) but it was that I was laying there trying to sleep for the longest time which hasn't happened to me much lately. Usually I'm out within a half hour or so, this took almost two hours. I'd have to think it was related given how wiped out I actually felt all day. Then again I always did have an issue going to bed hungry... hmm. Maybe I'll try bumping it up to a modified fat fast today and shoot for ~1200 calories or something and then go to the meat and egg fast? Or I'll just go to the meat and egg fast... I really haven't decided yet. A half pound isn't really all that encouraging though from such a drastic fast

Melanie, a half pound loss overnight is nothing to complain about. Especially when you're so close to goal.

Melanie, a half pound loss overnight is nothing to complain about. Especially when you're so close to goal. Hmm... true, maybe I was expecting too much especially with all my metabolic issues going on. I guess I just normally see people going, "OMG I LOST 3 POUNDS OVERNIGHT ON THE FAT FAST!!!" and figure that should be what you see, not a half pound which I commonly see anyway when the scale's not busy going up. Thanks for that I think all these body issues just have me feeling really down lately, and yesterday was no picnic in the park... so I was probably hoping to see a lot more than what I did from it. At least a pound or something, LOL!

Alrighty, I think I'll give the fat fast another day and just modify it up to ~1200 calories... I doubt I'll make it to a day 3 just because I don't think I'll see any real benefit to it, and I don't want to shut my metabolism down even further. Tomorrow I think I'll try starting up a meat and egg fast and see where that takes me. I love those two things anyway, so it shouldn't be very hard to accomplish. ESPECIALLY coming straight out of a fat fast which is just limitation hell ) I also started some new supplements today to compliment my thyroid/adrenal meds, so I'm hoping they start helping and don't do any harm. New supplements are 5000IU additional of Vit D, 300mg of B-2, and 2000mg of Vit C. Plans for today: Meal 1 - Bulletproof Tea (1T HWC, 1T EVCO) Meal 2 - Bulletproof Tea, 2 strips of low sodium bacon, 1/2 ounce of cream cheese Meal 3 - Fuze Tropical Punch drink, 1T of HWC, 1T of MCT oil Meal 4 - 2 strips of low sodium bacon, 1/2 ounce of cream cheese, almond butter pudding (2T of full fat sour cream, 1t of natural almond butter), 1T MCT oil, 1t Carlson Cod Liver Oil Meal 5 - 1T EVCO, daily piece of dark chocolate Totals: 1204 calories, 128g fat, 6g carbs, 12g protein ~96% Fat
