Thank you Before you pull the trigger on buying the Living book you should know that the things I say and how I think are an amalgam of personal experience, the Living book, podcasts, internet articles, WWGF book, Wheat Belly book, and answering a lot of questions about NK the last several months. I have not read the Performance book. Anyway, please do read the book but a lot of what I say is not single source and the book is not really a diet book at any rate. But it is packed with good information and has the foundational principles of NK.

The studies show you will not lose muscle if you are eating enough protien like we do here. You only lose muscle if you don.t eat enough protein to sustain your muscles you have. Not eating enough calories is only dangerous if you don't have more then 7% body fat or eat enough protein. There was a study done on military guys and they were doing lots of excersise and eating something like 1200 calories and using like 5000 calories. They used body fat for those calories until 7-10% body fat then started using muscles.

I am OK with 2 pounds this month. I just was wondering what other were doing. It seems there is alot of up and dowan and it is hard to follow if there is a net loss for the month without going back to see if each person posted a starting weight at the beginning. I just thought it would be fun to start the month with those numbers so we could go back and see what the progress is.

There is a lot of up and down and bouncing around especially since most of us weigh in daily. That is a good point, it can be hard to follow the progress of others. Some of us have stats under our profile. start/current/goal.

I see some in profiles, but it is hard to tell when that current weight was recorded. I am 241 today.
I see you put it on the bottom of your posts. Good idea. I am not sure how to do that. I just found I could change my picture!

My turn!! My turn!! <LOL> I think I have a pretty good grasp on how it all works. The biggest difference I am seeing between the '04 Atkins and NK is the higher amount if fat being consumed. Granted, I am probably way over simplifying the whole thing..but that's as far as I've gotten so far. My question is.... what happens if you don't get "enough" protein? I mean, I do eat <or try to eat> a protein source with every meal...but if Im doing the calculations correctly...I should be eating approximately 100 grams. Using today as an example....I ate 70 grams. All my other stats appears to be in line... CALORES: 1608 FAT: 137.47 (77%) Net Carbs: 17.92 (6%) Protein 70.26 (17%) and for the question about CO in coffee....if you like flavored creamers/coffees...its pretty much going to be the same thing. My suggestion, if you don't have one...invested in a magic bullet or generic equivalent. it blends the CO and or butter to an emulsion, plus you get this cool foam on top...just starbucks or cheaper and better for you!!!

If I can find them again I'll post what I've got. I think Matt LaLonde mentions it in his podcast with Jimmy Moore.

Or so I've been told by zealous defenders of the Atkins program. Being short one day shouldn't really matter much. Try to be consistent though so you can troubleshoot and tweak later with consistent data to work from. If you are all over the map with protein or calories it is hard to figure out what needs to be tweaked. By the way, NK is Total Carbs not Net Carbs. I look at my net carbs from time to time but the important number is total carbs

vicki, You are too funny. Darin can give you more of an idea about how much protein you need. Nothing wrong with keeping it simple. The easiest way I look at it is. You get your number of protein, keep carbs under 50g and fill in the rest of your calories for the day with fat. easy peasy. Stats are inline On NK we don't do net carbs, have to count total carbs, that is one difference from Atkins. When you get above 50 total carbs your kidneys start to retain fluid.

Weight this morning = 135 Meat and egg fast works. I'm going to do the M/E fast today and tomorrow and see where that gets me. I ate a few more carbs than normal on Sunday, which took me out of ketosis, but I am back in this morning. WTG!!!
