Hello everyone You guys probably know that there is seldom a day goes by that I don't in some way celebrate the weight I've lost or the amazing benefits of LC. I know I've said it dozens of times but I thought a 30 day challenge thread would be a cool way to help other people get in the habit of positive daily self-talk and positive reinforcement. Personally this habit has helped me stay LC almost as much as the accountability that comes from posting numbers and/or weigh-ins. When the world is treating you like dirt you *always* have your secret victories that no one and no thing can take away from you. The rules are that every day you have to post something positive about what LC, or some aspect of LC, has done for you. It doesn't have to be line of sight LC either. It doesn't have to be extraordinary - in fact the more mundane the better I think. I won't give examples because I want it to lean towards free association with the only requirement being that you can tie it back to your LC lifestyle.

My thing for today is I put my socks on while standing up. Performing this physical feat is only possible because of all the weight I've lost. Heck I had a hard time putting them on while sitting down while I was fat lol

When I eat LC the swelling in my feet and ankles disappears. I get normal looking feet again (the only skinny part of my current body)!! Yay!

Eating LC makes it so easy to go a very long time without eating...or even thinking about the need for food. It's a blessing!

Since lots of people that I know are sick with colds right now, what comes to mind for me is this. Before NK when I would get a cold, I would be sick as a dog for two weeks (secondary infections, antibiotics, yuck). Now with NK when I get a cold, I'm moderately sick for three days. No antibiotics required.

This is a great challenge, thanks reddarin!! LC makes it so easy to go long periods without that crazy hunger. I love the food I get to enjoy eating LC.

On LC that part about carbs that causes a mental state that is all about getting more food is gone. Whatever that mental state is is a horrible task master.

I love the freedom that LC gives me. Sometimes while I am at the grocery store I go out of my way to walk down the chip aisle or the ice cream aisle with a dopey smile on my face relishing the power of being able to choose not to put that crap in my cart.

I love that my tummy is happy on LC, before LC I had problems with all sorts of digestive upsets.

Forgive me, because this one is total vanity, but today (at age 40) I'm wearing a smaller size of jeans than the ones I wore my senior year of high school.

There's no such thing as vanity on this thread. Whatever makes you feel good about yourself, your life or whatever because of LC is appropriate and there's no limit on the degrees of seperation either.

My cool thing for today is ... no heartburn and not being constantly plagued by headaches. I used to get heartburn just about every time I ate something spicy, as in a lot of spices, and/or spicy, as in heat. Since I love spicy hot food that meant a whole lot of heartburn. Headaches were maybe not every single day but so frequent that a string of three or four days in a row without one was unusual. I never went anywhere without OTC heartburn and some sort of analgesic. I kept permanent stashes at home, work and in my vehicle.
From *that* to having very mild and ignorable heartburn twice, I think, in the last 3 years. I still get the occasional headache but whereas before if I didn't take something for it immediately it'd almost always increase to migraine level to now where I can almost always just ignore it and it will go away. Wow.
I'm certain that I owe this wonderful state of being to going wheat-free but I'd never have tried wheat-free if it weren't for trying, and failing, LC first. I failed LC the first time in 2011 because I didn't quit wheat. When I went LC the second time ~30 days later I went WF at the same time. My headaches and heartburn were gone about 3 days after going WF/LC.

I love the fact that I recover from exercise so much better than I did before NK. I did a new workout today ( www.simplefit.org ) and I know I'm going to be sore tomorrow. But I also know that I will get stronger, and that was NOT guaranteed for me personally before NK.

I am thankful to know that by eating the NK-way I am doing the best I can for protecting my brain health. That is the reason I started eating for NK.

I'm going to say that changing to a LC lifestyle has opened my eyes enough to start researching other bad food/health habits I have had. ie: diet coke addiction/artificial sweeteners, permanent state of dehydration, and now researching my lack of proper gut flora and learning how to reverse it. If I'd stayed on the crap food, I wouldn't have thought to make these healthy changes.

Every time I put on my size 32!!! jeans and the entire time I am wearing them I am thrilled with what following LC has done for me. I haven't been that size since HS 30 years ago. I was in 48s and needing to move up to 50s when I started back in 2011. The 32s are loose enough that I can stick my arm down the side of my pants. The 48s were tight enough that some days I had to lay down to get them buttoned lol.

My LC thing for today is Hope. It's hard to express how hopeless I felt when I was so fat. I tried countless times to get control of myself and lose weight but I always failed. It didn't matter how hard I tried or how much I beat myself up over my lack of self-control, ELMM CICO failed me every single time until I was fast approaching 300 pounds.
LC changed all of that. With LC I finally understood that *I* wasn't the failure but ELMM CICO was the failure. It is such a simple concept yet so brilliant once internalized - being fat is not a character flaw. The mainstream in a misguided attempt to both justify ELMM CICO *and* rationalize being fat has taken the contradictory position that being fat is both a character flaw and a personal choice.
No by God it is not both things. Being comfortable with yourself and having a positive self-image is about mental and spiritual health. It has *nothing* to do with the failure of 'well balanced' ELMM CICO. *You* are not *choosing* to be fat when ELMM CICO fails you - the choice is being made for you by the gatekeepers that refuse to acknowledge that their approach sucks and doesn't work for the vast majority of people. Those very same gatekeepers that concede defeat and begrudgingly allow you to feel good about yourself for being fat never stop thinking you are fat because of a character flaw. They just write you off as a lost cause. Screw them. You are not a lost cause.
Hmmm. lol a bit of a rant there. Back to the positive! LC provided hope where there was none before. I didn't lose weight because I ignorantly cut calories when I reduced carbs. I lost weight and got far, far healthier *because* I cut carbs not despite cutting carbs. LC was the sun peeking through the angry judgmental storm clouds of the mainstream zombie horde.

Love it Red! On LC I never have to beat myself up. Don't have to keep my calories low and think I am a failure if I eat more than 1300 calories while some born skinny tells me try harder and exercise.
