:dance:Woo hoo! I am excited. DH got us a 2 nite stay at some cabins on the parkway for our upcoming 5 yr anniversary. 2 Weeks and off to vacation land.
Yippee!!! Enjoy it! As for the low carbs being the issue, I've done a little reading and it sounds like it could be since I've already had depression before. Apparently carbs affect your serotonin levels... Today was definitely an improvement so I'm going to wait this out for a bit. :0)

Well, I went to Carl's Jr. for lunch for their Charbroiled Cod sandwich (tossed most of the buns) ate the fish, tomato, & tartar sauce. Was yummy. However, less than 5 minutes from eating it my mouth and tongue felt numb. Strange! I was feeling other itchy/hives feeling but I was literally on my way into the drug store for some Claritin and think taking that may have headed off a full reaction. I went to their website and found the list of ingredients for the tartar sauce. I've had the fish twice before in a taco (no tartar-cole slaw)
Sauce, Tartar Soybean Oil, Sweet Relish (Pickles, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, Vinegar, Water, Salt, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Benzoate as a preservative, Natural Flavorings, Alum and Polysorbate 80), Sugar, Egg Yolks, Distilled Vinegar, contains less than 2% of: Lemon Juice Concentrate, Dehydrated Onion, Modified Food Starch, Salt, Red Pepper, Spice, Sodium Benzoate (a preservative), Dehydrated Parsley.
I don't see anything on here I would react to. Some yucky chemicals. Do you see any red flags? I like their grilled fish (even though it has carb binders in it)
Hmmmm. Weird.

Tried to go off every once in a while but I'm just one of those that need the medicine for a better way of life. I'm sure once you become totally adjusted it will help.

The tartar sauce doesn't look to have anything much different from bottled salad dressings. IDK, DD has reactions to things all the time. Some bottled dressing cause me to get hives occasionally. I think when we cut out a lot the chemicals and junk (like we do on NK) we are more prone to having a reaction and recognizing it.

We don't want you feeling bad or getting depressed. Have you read much on supplementing with 5 htp? I would only check into it I you are not taking meds for depression, otherwise you might talk to your doctor. Have you read the Mood cure by Julia Ross. She is awesome and has some great advice on supplements and eating healthy. She also has some good podcasts you can find for free, a few with Jimmy Moore.

Happy Sunday all. DD and I had a busy day in Houston (about 100 miles away). She had two clients and we did some dress looking. Then hunted about on the way home for bluebonnet/wildflower fields. If the weather is sunny on Monday or Tuesday mornings, she'll snag her camera and we'll go back out to what we found. She leaves Tuesday midday. Staying true to way of eating, though too much of it. Not that her being here has had an impact on that really...I did not do the HIIT on Friday. Did work out in the yard, though.

Weight today 156. I have dropped about 3 lbs this week. I was 159 a few days ago. I am back on NK pretty steady and feeling better. I must have been in ketosis still because I didn't have any keto flu stuff this week. Still have this strange arthritis in my right knee and right hand. So weird but seems some better. Been doing some yoga for arthritis, hope it helps. Good lord I have been busy and exhausted every night. Too much going on but being on NK always helps and for some reason keeps me calm and happy Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday

Hello there, everyone! I sure have missed you. I didn't even really realize that I've missed you until Cheryl woke me up with a note. Thank you, Cheryl! Life has been so very, very stressful over these past couple of weeks. Remember the ultrasounds and mammos I went through last month? Yeah, those came back scary to my OB, so I had to go to a specialist. That was just too much for me, I guess. Thankfully everything seems to be okay....just have to go through it all again in 6 months. So, now that's behind me and I'm going to get back on track. Darin....I'm so sorry about your puppy. So, scale is up higher than ever this morning....163. Going to try and not stress about it and just work on getting back on track. Hugs, everyone! Thanks for being such a huge support here. I do love being here with all of you. Kristin

Thanks, Cheryl. Yes, it was very stressful. Geez... Yes, things are calmer now...just regular stresses now - work, kids, being a mom, you know...regular stuff. I love that stress compared to the dr/medical stress. ha.
Eating today has been tremendously better. Didn't count, but still did well getting back on track.

Kristin, so glad the medical fun is over for now with happy answers. Yea! No point in stressing about a number on a scale. Do what you know to do which is eat the way you were eating, enjoy your good news and the plainness of your busy life.

Had a lovely dinner out last night: Caprese salad (mozzerella, basil, tomato) and then a pistachio-encrusted filet of red snapper. Had some sort of sauce on it that was lovely. Probably had flour/sugar in it and I didn't stress about that. Picked the few veggies off the rice it was on. DD and I drank a bottle of chianti. We listened to live jazz. Great evening and saw several friends there, too. Nice thing about living in a smaller city.
Today is the last full day with my daughter. We'll have fun as we always do.

Read this tip on happiness today and thought I would share it...
Starting today, find an empty jar and take the time every month to fill it with notes about good things that have happened to you. Then, on New Years Eve, empty it and see what awesome stuff happened during the year. It’s a very good way to keep things in perspective! Use this opportunity to express gratitude, appreciation and forgiveness.
Gonna start mine today.

Storytha - Thank God for meds! I needed them badly for the last 3-4 years while I worked though a lot of family, church (I was raised in a sort-of cult) and childhood stuff. After several years and LOTS of therapy I felt like I might not need them anymore and worked with my MD to get off of them. One thing I cannot live without is my supplements (D3, all the B vitamins and folate) which affect my mood if I miss even two days. The best part is that my western medicine practicing doctor was the one who recommended the supplements when I was quitting the zoloft! Kudos to him thinking outside the box. I've had a good four months (not that it was easy at first) since quitting so I'm definitely giving my body time to adjust with this new WoE. Congrats on the weight-loss! Rejoice - So glad you're having a great time with the DD and DH. Clueless - I have researched 5htp and spoke with my MD about it. We decided not to try that since the supplements I'm already on seem to be making a difference. I might revisit it if this low mood persists on this WoE though... I'll give it some more time. Things are better than last week at this time so I'm hopeful it was just a hiccup whilst my body adjusted it's various hormone levels. I'll definitely check out the Julie Ross book though! Congrats on the weight loss and I may start that jar thing too!!! Happy Monday. I have absolutely no voice. Call me Mrs. Froggy today. I don’t know how I’ll answer the phone at work. BFF called me yesterday and thought she’d dialed the wrong number. Coughing all night. Gonna have to hit the pharmacy again today. Cough drops usually have sugar but you gotta do what you gotta do. Besides I kinda blew it last night. Friends came over for dinner and I just ate my old way. He brought me a special beer to try and I didn’t want to say no. Oh well. One speed bump does not a change in direction make. Fri numbers Cals 877 Carbs 44.29 Prot 56.47 B- Coffee w/ HWC L- Fish sandwich (1/3 bun) D- burger patty, chips, cheese WI: 276 Sat numbers Cals 854 Fat 59.49 Carbs 38.42 Prot 38.04 B- Coffee w/ HWC L- Tuna salad sandwich w/ LC bread D- Steak, potato w/ butter & sour cream WI: 275 Sun Numbers Cals 1119 Fat 62.38 Carbs 70.02 (50 at dinner alone) Prot 40.36 B- Scrambled egg L- egg salad sandwich w/ LC bread D- burger w/ bun, salad, chips, mac & cheese, beer WI: 274.4 -0.6# So if the ONLY way to lose weight is CI/CO then I should be down a ton more due to my low cals this weekend. Duh! Except that my activity level was almost nonexistent. Hay fever kicking my butt and I couch potato-ed the whole weekend.

Went to lunch at Sonic as an impromptu decision. There is really NOTHING to eat there except bun-less burgers. I didn't see the breading-less chicken until after I ordered. Note to self-don't get cocky! Look up the restaurant before deciding to go. But I avoided the tater tots! Yay me!

Happy Tuesday. Have Cub Scouts tonight. Seven 9 year olds with pocket knives! Yikes! Last session of knives then on to hiking. We’ll be camping at the end of May. I’m still not sure how I got roped into this. I am SO NOT “outdoorsy”. However, I’ve complied a three tiered spreadsheet in excel indicating the purchasing, packing/storing, and distribution of food and supplies. Also typed and distributed the schedule of events alternating crafts with physical activities. God I’m such a geek! I guess I’ll have to learn how to start a campfire-I’m sure there’s an App for that. Yesterday was not good. I succumbed to comfort food for dinner. Dinner was late due to DH’s work schedule and we ended with soup and sandwiches. I went LC bread but couldn’t resist the tomato soup and crackers. Then OD’d on cottage cheese. Boo. Cals: 1413 Fat: 91.04 Carbs: 80.82 Prot: 64.43 B- Coffee w/ HWC & CO (yay I finally bought so CO!) L- burger patty w/ cheese & bacon, 1 onion ring D- LC grilled cheese sandwich, tomato soup w/ saltines S- Macadamia nuts, cottage cheese I didn’t weigh in. I’m bloated. I think more from the hay fever than the food. But had my nummy coffee and a string cheese already today and feeling little bit better. Waiting for the Claritin to kick in. Co-worker offered magic pills he gets from Mexico-“Will knock those allergies out!”. Nah, I’ll pass.

Well, daughter flew off today. It was a great visit. Hoping for more of them. Go back to regular schedule this evening for staying with Mom. The Tues-Friday daytime companion gave notice today so we'll start with someone new on her days beginning on next Tuesday. I don't have to look, we work with an agency. Thankfully my schedule is pretty flexible the next few weeks as we work this out.
During my daughter's visit I didn't choose to eat off plan. Had more food than usual; wine, too. We'll see what the scale says come Friday.

Not a bad day overall. New favorite way to increase fat? Heavy whipping cream or half and half (or a mix of both) with a little splenda and a drop or two (depending on how many grams you're drinking) of the flavoring we use to make hard-tack candy (Lorann is the brand I have). I tried apricot, which I think I would have liked better if I'd only used one drop and last night I had strawberry which was SO delish. In other foodie news, I will eat the flax wraps (only using 7g of flax though) but I DON'T like them with any seasoning. Just plain and then the flavor comes from what I put on there. Turkey pastrami and cheese is good, but the bacon and pb is still my fav. Still depressed - I have better moments and really bad moments. The library system was down so I couldn't search for the Julie Ross book but hopefully it's back up today and I can order it. Not ready to go back on meds, but I'm open to more therapy. Whatever it takes to become the best me.
