Hey guys! Todays numbers....... Cals 1491 Fat 121.7g Carbs 20.5g Prot 79.3g B. eggs/peppers in butter L. Sausages/mustard D. Sausage/ mustard/clementine I find preparing food a real pain.....I suppose if I didn't live alone it might be different!!!! So I tend to cook something in the AM....and it lasts me for the whole day.....sometimes two! I'm not very fussy....so as long as it's the 'right' kind of food and it fills me up, I don't really care. That's one good thing about living alone......It's much more difficult when you have a family that you have to look after......so to you out there who have to prepare food for others......my respect! hugs!

chrispy, I can eat the same foods every day if it means less time spent cooking/preparing meals. I'm lucky too in that I don't have anyone else to cook for! Lately I'm all about cabbage bowls - cooked meat, shredded cabbage, cheese, with sour cream or a LC sauce. For lunch today I'm having cabbage, shredded chicken, bleu cheese crumbles, buffalo sauce + melted butter, and sour cream all mixed together. It doesn't look pretty but it sure tastes good!

Post of shame So yesterday I was helping my friend get ready for her daughters birthday party. I made the punch and started ladling it out. Before I even realize it, I'm drinking a cup! But once I had some sugars, the floodgates were open. I had chips, a small piece of cake with ice cream and a little bit of candy. The good thing is that while I'm absolutely positive I went waaaay over my carb count, I was already girding up my resolve when dinner came around and I was out with friends. I had hamburger cabbage soup instead of the carb laden meal I seriously considered ordering. This has taught/reinforced a number of things: 1: Carbs do not satiate like fat. I kept noshing at the party and never felt full. 2. If I do not plan for the weekend, the weekend will dictate my diet. 3. I have one close friend who I must meet up with on a full stomach with yummy snacks in tow. Otherwise, they will constantly push me to have "just a little piece of xyz". This happened last weekend too. 4. I have goods reason to be fearing the upcoming holidays. 5. I didn't feel particularly wretched from eating sugar/carbs. Yikes. *sigh* The good news is that I know I'm human; that one day is just one point on the journey; and that I can and will do better! Weigh in is tomorrow, perhaps that will give me more motivation.

reepicheep1981 - You are not weak and there is no shame in how the body reacts to a spike in blood sugar. You handled it well by going straight back to low carb, and that is not easy when your body is yelling for more starch and sugar.

Weigh in is tomorrow, perhaps that will give me more motivation. I know how you feel. I have all that junk in my face every day. My saving grace is that I am allergic to wheat so I try to buy stuff I know I cannot eat. Cookies cake and crackers make me sick so that helps me stay away. Chips are my nemesis! I could sit down and eat the whole bag. Since being keto adapted for a long time I have been able to eat 2 or 3 and stop but I could never have done that a year ago. Being keto adapted makes a big difference. Now as for your friend.... She probably doesn't realize she is a saboteur. Lots of people do not understand that on this plan a little bite of something like cake or cookies can set you back. They have the calorie in calorie mentality not the Low carb / NK way ot thinking. Have you tried to enlist her help? Maybe you can tell her you really need her help and it would mean a lot to you. Explain to her that a little bite turns into a craving, and you would rather spend your carbs on something more suited to your plan.

I was making a meatloaf earlier and decided to add a tablespoon of chia seeds, because I read somewhere that it makes the loaf juicy and moist. I just tasted a tiny piece after letting the meatloaf cool, and this really does work! I used 1 1/2 lbs ground beef, 1 egg, 1 tbsp chia seeds + 4 tbsp water, 2 tbsp HP sauce, garlic powder, and salt. I let the chia seeds soak in the water a few minutes before mixing in with the other stuff. It looks kind of gross and slimy, but the seeds aren't really noticeable once the meatloaf has cooked. ETA: I also made mashed cheese-y cauliflower using this recipe, and it finally turned me into a convert! Turns out I wasn't cooking the cauliflower long enough before. I had a 20 oz bag of frozen cauliflower and ended up cooking it in the microwave for 25 minutes. 5 minutes on high before adding the cream and butter, then 20 minutes on medium, stirring every 5 minutes. The long cooking and addition of the cream and butter gets rid of the funky sulfurous smell and taste. I used sharp cheddar, bleu cheese, and parmesan for the cheeses.

Good morning!
Thank you everyone for your encouragement!!! I had two things going on yesterday that prevented me from being online long enough to reply but I did read your responses and it helped me. *group hug*
Cheryl, I haven't talked with my saboteur friend yet as she was having a major personal crisis yesterday but I will soon. I see her nearly every weekend and sometimes through the week so having her on board is more important than I originally thought.
I did better yesterday with food choices... In fact, I made the rotel dip and ate it with pork rinds. Yum!!! I kept thinking "I can't believe this is part of my diet!". Lol
Weigh in later today (no scale at home)... I'll update again. :0)

Don't usually weigh myself more than once a week, but jumped on the scale today. I'm up 2 lbs since saturday. It's very difficult for me to lose weight and 3 yrs ago I packed on the pounds and none of the doctors were of any help or had any reasons. One of my reasons for going NK was to see if the ketones feeding my heart would help with severe AFib. Haven't had a bad spell since last week and for that I'm grateful. Not sure if NK is helping but from what I've read, the heart prefers the ketones and functions much better on them so we shall see. My cardiologist says valves look good and heart thickness is fine but when they pile on it still feels like the end is near as I can't breathe. I also have no thyroid (1991), Graves disease, and like a fool I let them destroy it with radioactive iodine, damaging my parathyroid in the process. Can't process fat well as no gallbladder.....so, I'm an n=(-)1..... I will not get discouraged as I've been down this path before, I change my diet, get an initial drop, get hopeful, then weeks later begin to regain what I initially lost. I've eaten about as clean as a person can the past 3 yrs and the only difference now is that I'm doing the HF to go with the LC I've been on. I have not measured and if I find my tape measure I will, but my clothes do seem to fit less tight so I will push forward until this WOE proves not to be good for me and I don't think it will. off to get ready for work........hope you all have a great day!

Weigh in is tomorrow, perhaps that will give me more motivation. Yeah, carbs can be a seriously slippery slope. Mentally too because once you know you've blown it you start rationalizing in for a penny in for a pound. Don't fear the holidays. The good thing about Thanksgiving and Christmas is that they are so meat-centric meals. Just fill up on the meat and don't worry about protein goals. The excess protein may make you stall or even bounce a little but it is a far superior choice to carbing up. And being full on meat makes it a lot less likely that you'll fall to the temptation of carbage too. Studies have shown that protein is more satiating than fat. Dunno about that but even if it is equal to or just a little less satiating than fat the results are the same - eat lots of non-carby meat and you'll be too full to eat a bunch of terrible carbs.
