I would celebrate by opening the fridge, I would handle sadness by opening cupboard. Happy, sad stressed, bored, hungry, not hungry, anytime was a good time to eat. Oh well I messed up my diet today I may as well eat more. Or the worst was, I am gonna start a new diet tomorrow so I better eat this stuff tonight. Oh man, can I ever relate! That's pretty much me to a T... or rather it USED to be before I managed to get control of myself, which I really honestly wasn't able to ever do before going LC. I'd celebrate by eating. I'd eat because I had a bad day and I "deserved" whatever treat I was craving. I'd eat because I was bored and there was nothing else to do. Even now I struggle not to do THAT, mostly because I have to stay in and take it easy while I'm trying to get better medically... so I just run into a lot of scenarios where I'm sitting around bored, wondering when lunch is or dinner is. Not because I'm hungry necessarily, so I don't go and actually eat anymore because I know better. But it's just because it's something to do. Stress was another big one for me too. First I'd go through a point of being so upset and stressed out that I couldn't eat at ALL... and then I'd move to eating everything in sight I'm so glad we all found this WOE now, because while we do still have our ups and downs and we still have moments of weakness I really feel like NK/LC has finally given us a tool that we can use to actually stick to our goals and make it long term This is also GREAT advice! Never go anywhere TOO hungry!! That's why whenever I knew I was going out to breakfast with family I'd always drink my bulletproof tea first before going out, instead of making whatever I got at the diner my whole meal... I knew people would be eating toast and potatoes in front of me, so I always had something first to curb my hunger. Then I was okay just ordering some eggs and bacon. Same thing with going to a Mexican restaurant. I know my dad's going to get the stupid chips and salsa, so I make sure I have something small before I get there so I'm not starving waiting on my entree to come out... that way there's WAY less temptation

I'm 2.5 pounds from my former all time low back in October. Gosh, when I finally get past 186.1 it will be anticlimactic heh.

Darin, I meant to mention... I asked on the thyroid community I belong to about the whole burning/tanning thing we were talking about yesterday, and it turns out there definitely IS a connection between thyroid disease/adrenal fatigue and the situation I'm going through. It's likely being exacerbated by the fact that my Vit D was so low that it was literally in the tank. I mean so scary low that they didn't even wait the extra days until my appointment to tell me about it, they actually called me and told me to immediately begin supplementing more than I had been. That was while I was outdoors every day in the sun for 2-3 hours a day, AND getting 1300IU already from my multi. Good to know I'm not going crazy, or going to become see-through one of these days... hopefully getting optimal eventually on all of my treatments will have me not burning so much anymore

Darin, what was your highest, and how long did it take you to get to where you're at now? I was 265 when I started LC, after reading WWGF, in August of 2011. Maybe even a bit higher but that is what I've always used as my start number. I fell off plan after a couple of weeks for a couple of weeks and restarted in October after reading Wheat Belly. I dropped to 205 by late January of 2012 so about 4 months for 60 pounds. Then I got stuck and could not get past that dang 205 mark. My goal weight at that time was 185 I think. I didn't know about measuring frame size so I just picked a weight that sounded reasonable to me. At any rate, I stayed 205 for months and months. I fell off careful attention to LC but stayed LC until around August of 2012. At that time I fell off plan by pigging out on tortilla chips and queso (my kryptonite) and some other off-plan but wheat-free carby stuff. Then my jeans started getting hard to button. I stepped on the scale and saw 215. That got me. I returned to LC with a determination not to get fat again. I found NK in August '12. I also found out that how to pursue NK was a bit murky heh. So 265 to 188 has taken me about 1 year and 9 months. I did hit 186 in October of '12. Then I stupidly quit smoking and gained 30 pounds (216 on the scale). I restarted smoking and NK in Feb '13.

Pretty awesome! Hmmm. Oh yeah. I remember posting about that. I went to Walmart for something and decided to try on some 32s for a lark. I got them on and buttoned but I had a serious muffin top going. I wanted to brag to the dressing room lady that I was able to wear them but I didn't want to have to show my mushroomed belly lol. For sure I haven't owned any 32s since highschool or just after. You are right though, I can wear my 33s and 32s regularly now even though I am a few pounds higher now vs. then hooray! heh

Thanks for all the support, guys. :hugs:I'm feeling less stressed today even though my temp job came to an end. The client thought it would take 2 weeks to get all the work done, and I breezed through it in 6 days. The good news is they want to call me back when it gets busy again, which should be in another week or so. I didn't drink coffee this morning because I was out of cream and don't like black coffee on an empty stomach. I had a massive headache by the end of the day, but made myself go to the grocery store and get hwc, eggs, bacon, and cheese with the little bit of money I had left. I'm feeling much better after a meal of cheese-y scrambled eggs, bacon, and coffee with hwc. The bacon was supposed to be half price with my loyalty card, but the discount didn't go through for some reason. I was in a brain fog and didn't notice until I got the receipt. I got the manager's attention, and waited for them to verify the price so I could get my $3 back.

Whenever I have eaten too many carbs, it took a couple of days for the water weight to show up on the scale. So don't be surprised if the scale shows you're up a few lbs tomorrow or the next day. It's just water weight and will come off soon. reddarin's advice is spot on as always. Try not to let yourself get so hungry that you are tempted to cheat. Did you eat anything before going to the restaurant? One thing I have come to realize is that I can enjoy food without stuffing myself. If I plan to eat out for dinner or visit family for a special meal, I won't starve myself in anticipation.

heh I almost bought the cheap eggs, but just couldn't do it. I can't afford organic, grass fed meat but I draw the line at factory farm eggs. I may be fooling myself, but I think eggs from pasture raised hens are healthier. I know they taste better for sure.

We have a produce place close by that sells cage free brown farm eggs for $1.80 There are signs in peoples yard too, "fresh eggs for sell, $1.00 a dozen".

Everyone I know who has backyard hens wants $4 per dozen! Not fair!
But Bunnie, I totally agree with you. If there were only ONE thing that I could buy organic/free-range (and in fact there sometimes is) it would always be eggs. The diffence between the factory farmed ones and the real deal is profound.

I was browsing one of the old NK threads at the other place, and found this calculator by Rebecca Latham. It can be downloaded as an Excel file. Fat Protein Carb Calculator
Instructions on how to use the spreadsheet are in the document. Plug in the number of protein and carb grams you've chosen, change fiber to zero if you're not counting net carbs, and play around with the number of fat grams until it shows the ratio you're aiming for. I thought it was kind of neat.

Talk about a scary night... detox baths strike again. Tonight's put my resting heart rate at 111 I actually felt like my heart was literally going to beat right out of my chest at that point. Tachycardia is a crazy, crazy thing. It's on its way back down right now thankfully but that's the highest it's ever been in my life that I know of. Resting heart rates just should not BE that high

I've settled into a groove, I've dropped about a kilo this week (98.4kgs), I'd bounced a little last week. I think it was all the exercise id been doing, I couldn't do any bike riding this week cos I hurt my tailbone, I went and got the bike adjusted to solve that problem, I was riding with the seat too low.

mon - 317.4 today - 315.8
Going to Nunavut in the great white north for 4 days next week for work. Although this time of year its the great..brown north since the snow is melted mostly. I will try to buy those mini cans of tuna in oil tho cuz they dont have much real food up there. Last year i stuck to NK there.
After that trip i get to stay home for a whole 3 weeks, yay.
