Down 1.4# to 226.2. It's slow but definitely working.

Well, I had the BodPod done this morning to check body fat% and muscle mass in preparation for my doctor's visit (weight accountability) on Wed. In 2 months (most of which has involved relative inactivity due to knee pain before and after the half marathon and then the surgery), I have gained .5 lbs of body fat and lost 2.5 lbs of muscle My weight is down 2 lbs but it's because of the muscle loss, so it's not such a good thing. Definitely something to work on as the physical therapist allows me to be involved in more activity. Good news, I'm down to 134.5 today

Good news, I'm down to 134.5 today I'd be curious to know the PT person's opinion of the muscle mass loss as to it being about normal, less than normal or a little more than normal. But that is only with regards to the absolute amount, the fact is if you are exercising and stop exercising you'll start losing muscle tissue so the loss of it is not unusual in your situation in particular. I'm impressed that you have been forced to be very sedentary after being very active and have only gained .5 pounds of fat in two months. *That* sounds impressive to me.

I am happy enough that the body fat gain was that low but losing that much muscle in such a short time bothers me. I'll definitely talk to the PT about it this afternoon at my session and see what he thinks. The trainer that did the BodPod assessment seemed to think I should be able to gain that muscle back pretty quickly once I start incorporating a more balanced training approach (upper and lower body work). He did suggest taking in more protein and water, though (I told him my daily protein average was 80-90g and he thought it should be at least 100g).

I agree with the trainer, it should come back quickly. I'd even go up to about 115g. That'd be 2g/kg at 130 pounds. And I'd try to keep calories up. You'll need them to build the muscle mass and continue recovery. Your scale weight is going to be contrary when you start adding back LBM. What was your BF%?

Weigh-in this morning ... 188.5 What is really annoying about that big bounce is that it bumped my average for the week up so for the week I stayed at 188 but if I'd have gotten just point three less this morning my week's average would have been 187. The first thing getting shot when the zombie apocalypse happens is my scale

I typically keep my calories between 1350 and 1550/day but occasionally go over. Today, my BF% is 29.6 (up .7% from 2 months ago), which barely keeps me in the Moderately Lean range (but at least I'm there). My goal is the next level which is Lean at 18.1-22%.

I'm in class straight through from 8-1:40, then I get a break until a class from 4-6:45, plus an hour commute each way. Exhausting! 3 sciences and a finance class right now. I am NOT a science person.. probably why I've put them off until my senior year hehe.

I started a new temp job today and it's going well. It's supposed to last for a week or two, possibly longer. I haven't eaten anything yet today but I'm making a big batch of chili for dinner. I'm not sure how to count it because I always have trouble figuring out serving sizes with recipes. Not going to worry about it!

Use Spark Recipes to create the recipe then use the information it generates to create a custom food on your logger. Their recipe thing is super awesome and easy to use. I've done that before with several things because FitDay is so dang clunky for creating custom foods. www.sparkrecipes.com/ETA: Here is the direct link to the recipe creator page @bunniee --- recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp

Fun story for you guys.. So, I've got a severe, SEVERE gluten allergy. Makes eating out a pain in the butt. I was so excited when the guy at Barberitos (kind of like Chipotle), told me they grill peppers an onions on a separate part of the grill from the tortillas, so its completely gluten-free. "Hurray!" I thought to myself. I enjoyed my taco bowl and thought, "Hey, maybe having a wheat allergy isn't so bad." 30 minutes later, a full-body rash and THIS happened: I feel like my allergy is laughing in my face right now. Pretty safe to say I'm out of ketosis judging by the size of my stomach. So I go to Barberito's site and there is nothing about separate equipment for gluten-free. Everything thats gluten-free there is on SHARED EQUIPMENT, so it kinda cancels out the GF-ness of it all. What is the point?!?!

Oh I've used Sparkrecipes and it's great, but I still have to guess at how many servings a recipe will yield if it's something I'm making up on the fly. I might plug in the numbers later and try to come up with a reasonable # of servings. I used 2 lbs of ground beef, 16 oz tomato sauce, a 15 oz can of pinto beans, plus chili powder, garlic, salt & pepper. I expect to get at least 6 servings out of it, probably more like 7 or 8. I had a bowl of chili with a cut up hot dog and shredded cheese for dinner. I'm still a little hungry, not sure what else I'm going to eat. I got pre-cooked bacon yesterday because it was on sale for $2.50 per package - not a bad deal. I might heat up a slice or two and cook an egg to go with it.

cg037 - congrats on your gluten baby! Seriously though, that was not too smart of the waiter. If you feel up to it, you might want to contact the manager and let them know so they can avoid incidents like this in the future.
