I hope that everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! Ours was pretty quiet and laid-back since we had no guests this year. The low-carb creme brulee was amazing, as always. I love that recipe! Can't remember if I've posted it before, but here it is.Darin, I am so sorry for the exceptionally late reply, but thank you ever so much for the videos about pike push-ups and shoulder strength stuff. That should keep me pretty entertained this morning. I hope that your burn is healing well. I got burned badly enough once to lose a little skin, and holy crap that hurt worse than breaking my arm or any other injury that I can recall, even though the affected area was only the size of a quarter! I think menstrual cramps and giving birth are the only things that beat it, and obviously you don't have to worry about those. Speaking of pain, I thought that thing about redheads experiencing more pain was just a myth that had been debunked! Now I'm curious why I thought that, and what sort of evidence there is. I was reading an article within the last few months about eye color being an indicator of pain experience. A high melatonin level in the eyes (i.e. dark eyes) indicates a high melatonin level in the brain, and that increases the conduction of pain signals. I don't know how much evidence there is for this, but I hope it isn't true, since I have very dark brown eyes! Got them from my mom. She has a pain disorder called "regional complex pain syndrome" which is basically when the brain continues registering pain even after an injury is long healed. I really hope I don't get that from her! Pam, I'm very interested to hear the continuing results of your carnivorous experiment. Cheryl, I'm sorry to hear that you have a sinus infection. Those are the worst. My brother loaned me his copy of Sitting Kills, Moving Heals by Joan Vernikos, Pd.D. Anyone read it? I haven't started it yet but it looks interesting. The BulletProof podcast mentioned it. Off the top of my head I think he said studies have shown that anesthesiologist have to use 20% more stuff for reds. Aha! I knew I was special. At the start of the BulletProof show, episode 174, Dave says that red heads are 20% more sensitive to pain. Also, we are stunningly handsome or beautiful as the case may be. Okay, I added that last part. But seriously, pain makes me go Peewee Herman saving the snakes from the fire. This is an interesting episode with guest Brad Pilon, who I don't think I've heard of before, on IF. Well worth listening to. www.bulletproofexec.com/brad-pilon-eat-stop-eat-the-fundamentals-of-intermittent-fasting-174/"My brother loaned me his copy of Sitting Kills, Moving Heals by Joan Vernikos, Pd.D. Anyone read it? I haven't started it yet but it looks interesting." I think I've heard that title mentioned on a podcast but I haven't read it. My reading queue is as long as my arm lol.

The BulletProof podcast mentioned it. Off the top of my head I think he said studies have shown that anesthesiologist have to use 20% more stuff for reds. My reading queue is as long as my arm lol. That's really interesting, but it seems to me that it could just as likely indicate a difference in the way redheads process anesthesia as it could indicate that redheads feel more pain. Different people can metabolize drugs at very different rates. Or there could be any number of things going on. Anyway, not saying I don't believe it, just in a questioning mood, I guess. I agree with you about the redheads being more handsome/beautiful, though! My dad is a redhead, as was my grandma, so I guess redheads have always held a special place in my heart. Sadly, that is not one of the characteristics I inherited from my dad. Neither did my brothers. Those poor recessive genes just don't stand a chance against the genes for dark hair and eyes. I got his insanely fair, highly prone to sunburn, brown spots, freckles, and skin cancer, Irish skin tone, though. So it seems like I should have gotten the pretty blue eyes and red hair to go with it! Yeah, I know what you mean! Finally watched the videos that you posted for me, and those were awesome. Thank you again! The last one (Athlean) looks pretty advanced. I'll probably do some plain old overhead presses first to build a foundation. The pike pushups look potentially neat, though I'm a little worried about my wonderful combination of weakness and clumsiness. Don't really want to fall on my head. But I'll carefully try one or two to see if I'm capable of handling it.

I don't know. Seems like I almost always have it start in my head and move to my chest. I may have an upper respiratory infection.

Sorry I've been MIA. Super busy this week at work. Now doggie hurt his back leg and I have to take half day to take him to the vet this afternoon. I don't know if he slipped and dislocated his hip or what?
Lots of icy rain lately. And gloomy clouds. Blech.
First of the Holiday Season parties last night. I failed miserably! Darned wine and lack of a plan. But today is a new day. The next temptation...I mean "party" will be at my house next week so I can plan the menu around my needs.
reddarin "P.S. 20% more painful than you non-reds would have experienced"
reddarin "Boy howdy. Hot bacon grease spilling across your finger smarts something fierce. On the sunny side, it did make the veins stick out down my shoulder and across my bicep on the unaffected arm" Sorry for the pain! But I can just picture you in the bathroom running cold water but admiring your sticky-outie veins like a body builder.
clueless "Well I guess I won't be doing the Art walk fair this weekend. the coordinator was super nice and helpful when I talked to her and put in the application. Now she will not respond to my application, calls or emails. Oh well, I have a sinus infection anyway and it has rained her since Tuesday. Supposed to rain thru Saturdays. Guess I will just take it easy this weekend." I'm sorry she's being uncooperative! Darrin's right, she might be on vacation or sick. But still frustrating!
gretalyn that recipe looks wonderful! I wonder if you can "caramelize" Xylitol on top?
Oh, and in the process of typing this, my boss just brought me a platter of various homemade Christmas cookies/breads from him and his wife. SIGH! I think I'll just drop the whole thing by my Mom's this afternoon to share with my Grama. But it is a nice gesture.

DH is a red head and has the pain tolerance of a giant. Kinda freakishly high tolerance! I'm a dyed red head and I'm the biggest wuss out there so maybe we balance each other out.

I don't know if he slipped and dislocated his hip or what? Awww. I hope it isn't serious. Mom's dog hurt her back legs and she never did fully recover from it. I had to lower the doggie door and build up the back steps so she could get in and out on her own. Poor thing. Exactly lol I was alternating between grimaces of pain and overt expressions of pride

Hmm, good question! The almond topping does give it a bit of a crunch, but something closer to the original would be nice.

Try not to go to muscle failure until you have a good idea of your failure point. Don't hesitate to break posture. With this exercise you can do the negatives only to build strength before doing the full version. Also you can adjust the right-angle part to make it easier so that your up/down is less vertical (with less benefit to the shoulders the flatter you go).

Well the art walk coordinator called at 4:30 today. She sat us up in a really good spot so I guess we are in. She said she had hoped to call the artist before today "but oh well" so I guess it wasn't just us. The business didn't close till 5 today so I lucked up and got to talk to the business owner after I finally found the right phone number, the one the coordinator gave me was the wrong number. That lady must have had a heck of a week. I am excited and nervous.

Cheryl--go in with a sense of adventure! No particular outcome for you. Sell some art? Great! Not sell some art? Great! Have some fun my friend. Looking forward to hearing about your adventure.
Out to eat with girlfriends. I love not being particularly tied to carnivory though it is my main way for now. I ate a nice salmon steak asking them to leave off the sauce but to please bring butter. Also said don't bring the pasta and the waiter offered up double steamed vegetables which I agreed to. I drank wine, too. lovely dinner with lovely friends. I am not thinking I've betrayed myself some how by having vegetables and wine to go along with the salmon. Nope, all lovely. didn't bring the scale home so there won't be any weigh-in tomorrow.
I will confess that this morning when there wasn't any change in the scale, I observed myself saying to myself: Hey I've done this new way of eating for what-- three days! Where's the big change on the scale? Of course, that isn't really the reason I am trying out carnivory at all. Merely sharing that, oh, that faulty way of thinking is deeply ingrained. G'night.

@rejoycealways8 Glad you had a great dinner with your friends. Don't worry bout that number, be happy where you are.
I peeked at the scale too today and was up a tad but since I have been sick I didn't really worry bout it. I haven't been eating much. My coughing is a little better. I dosed up on cough syrup last night. That stuff gives me heartburn so I saved it for bed time. I woke up coughing several times but went right back to sleep so hooray. Poor Dh said I didn't bother him but I don't believe him he's so sweet.
Glad to see gretalyn and storytha. Miss you guys!

After x-rays, it was determined doggie, Diesel, has a torn ACL. Surgery required. Developed from a combination of genetic pre-disposition and a highly active but definitely over weight dog. We'll probably schedule surgery before the New Year if we can get in. He’s only 7. Luckily my contract has us payout any unused vacation over 80 hours (which rolls over) so I get 66+ hours payout today. All earmarked for Diesel. I can payout one extra week too if I need it but I think we’ll manage.
I think I have found my stocking stuffer: American made & highly acclaimed Videri's 90% Ecuadorian Dark bar from North Carolina. Saw an article on them. $11.99 for two bars (not including shipping) but for a Christmas splurge- sounds good. Boss gave us all a $50.00 gift VISA cards with those cookie trays. Yay relatively healthy chocolate.
Cheryl, that is awesome about the Art Walk. I’m glad they finally got their act together. Artists in general have a bad reputation for being late and disorganized. Always an uphill battle to overcome that reputation. I hope you have a blast! A lot of work, but will really give you good exposure.

Hugs to you storytha re: Diesel. Glad the fella can be helped.
Conducted a morning workshop today. And as is usual, with so much energy flowing out during those hours, I become ravenous after and have a great need to be still and hopefully lie down. It isn't a "I am going to fall in a heap" type of hunger/weary but it is insistent. Drove through a Whataburger, ordered a triple meat burger. The place is close to my house so I came home, threw away the bread, scraped off the veggies and mustard and ate. I did eat the lettuce and the slice of tomato. Did the trick plus kicking back on the couch--even had a few minutes of close-my-eyes time.
It's a beautiful day here--sunny and in the 70s. Kinda unusual for us at this time of year though not wildly unusual. A foot of snow (ever) would be wildly unusual for us.

Well I am sure my carbs are over 50g per day the last few days. Cough syrup is loaded with corn syrup. I had to break down and make some with acv, olive oil and honey too. I added some orange aromatic bitter that gretalyn has me hooked on too. It helped.

Happy art walk to you today Cheryl! Hope the organizers have alternate plans when it rains as I see that that's predicted for you today. Maybe the predictors are wrong today.
I am up early again so no weigh-in. I am going through a spell of waking up right after midnight though last night it was after one (last night was motivated by a bathroom visit). Then awake again before 5. I am looking forward to when this stops.
Ya'll have a great Saturday.

Great day. I was so worried I was going to get to the show and hack and cough which is so embarrassing. I didn't though. Thank goodness. We had a great time. The weather was awful and not many people were out in the pouring rain. We still sold a total of 9 pieces and DD's work was a big hit. She hadn't sold anything at the library and was a little down. She had all sorts of people complementing her work and made a nice bit of money for the day. She was so happy and that made me very happy.
