Greta--grill vegetables, fish, shrimp, steak, pork chops, sausage. Grilling is great in the summer and everyone enjoys it. Southern food means fat so cook eggs and bacon for dinner, slather butter on his steak, melted butter to dip barbecued shrimp on. Keep the spices off his, go crazy on yours. Offer to share a spicy bite if he seems interested in trying it. If he likes plain food, I think that makes your job as cook easier. It's only for a week. He can think of it that way and so can you! It'll be fun!
My digestive system doesn't do well on the road--I work diligently to eat/supplement to keep things moving along here at home. Doesn't happen on the road. Glad to be back to my regular way of eating so that I can eventually get back to regularity. Ha!

Today is a low cal day in my JUDDD rotation. I was fine with fasting all day but eating dinner sparked my appetite. I do have 100 calories left - if I'm still hungry in another hour, I'll make sugar free cocoa and add a tablespoon of heavy cream.
I think I'm going to try a fat fast on my next down day. I'm a little wary because protein is usually more satiating for me than fat, but will see how it goes.

Cheryl-- that IS a wonderful story about your allergies. It is one of those "who'd have thunk it" stories we love to hear. And that it happened to someone we know. Yea!

I went to bed last night still kind of hungry, but glad I didn't give in! Got up early this morning and made coffee, poached eggs, and bacon. I think I'll stop at the grocery store on the way in to work, so I'm not tempted by fast food for lunch.

Happy Tuesday everyone. It is mid 60's here with sprinkles. Kinda nice.
Yesterday went well. I felt lethargic and indecisive regarding lunch which usually results in a "F*** it! Eat carbs" kinda attitude. But I reigned it in. Did feel a bit prowly in the kitchen after dinner. Family had root beer floats and I felt like I wanted a bit of something sweet but I didn't have the room in my carbs left.
Cals 1050 Fat 64.14 Carbs 43.51 Prot 60.25
B- protein shake (strawberry-yuck) L- Salad bar, cottage cheese, three bean salad, cucumber salad D- kielbasa, cucumber salad S- buttermilk

Diet root beer and heavy cream tastes kind of like a melted root beer float, if you ever want to treat yourself.

Well mimosa trees are in full bloom. They usually cause my allergies to go nuts. Woohoo, no symptoms. AMAZING! Still working on the cat allergies. May go kitty hunting soon to experiment. Way cool. Working on eft for weight loss too.

I'm trying out a mini fat fest today. I had coffee with heavy cream for breakfast, an early dinner of poached eggs and bacon, and I'm about to drink a cup of diet cocoa with a teaspoon of coconut oil.
My appetite is lower than usual for a down day. I thought that was interesting because I'm usually hungry if I keep protein low, even if fat intake is 75-80% of total calories.

At home tonight and that makes me happy. I am either fasting or fat fasting today. We'll see which one it turns out to be.

rejoicealways8 when I posted before, I had only seen page 3. I was rushing and not paying attention. Thank you so much for your help. Very cool ideas! I did a good thing yesterday, and forced myself to get up at 4:45am and go to Body Pump class before my long day in the car. It's 10 hour drive to my parents' home, so I wanted to get in a workout first. It was a good thing I did, because physically I was a lot more comfortable this time than previously. There was some road construction that had our usual route blocked, so we got a little confused and delayed, but we eventually made it. I also did a bad thing, though, and ate the waffle fries with my grilled nuggets at our Chick-Fil-A lunch. I had extra coffee in the morning to make sure I stayed awake on the drive, and the thing about caffeine is that if I go overboard, it makes me feel really hungry and shaky like I'm having a blood sugar crash. I knew I wasn't actually crashing, but it feels like it, so it's very hard to resist carbs under those circumstances! But, back on track today.

Greta--hope your visit is going well and that the food experience is fun for all. What's for dinner?
I slept at home last night after 10 days. The trip to California extended that a few days from my usual once a week. I had wine last night--not a lot but LCHF appears to make affects more pronounced and I am still learning to avoid the food in those instances. I only had cheese and a few berries--too much cheese and I didn't feel my best this morning from the glass of wine. Treating myself the best would be to not drink the wine...which I only do about once a month. I feel "set back" when I do. Yep, we are still learning stuff.
Cheryl, so glad your alleriges are at bay. Yea! I've done tapping a couple times. Once in California, and yesterday. I will keep at it. I do feel some relief but I am not in control yet.
Have a lovely Friday all. Pam

The last few days have been difficult emotionally due to some personal/family issues. Today was supposed to be a down day and wound up just under 1,000 calories. I'm not fussed about it as JUDDD is very flexible and I didn't binge, which is a victory all its own. The occasional medium day won't derail my progress. I'll probably make tomorrow an UP day and have my next down day on Sunday. At some point I plan to get back to lower carb, but for now eating moderate carb seems to be working for me.

I posted about theanine earlier in the June thread, but wanted to mention it again in regard to caffeine. I've found that it helps to lessen the negative effects of caffeine like shakiness and hunger. I feel focused and alert, yet more calm when I combine caffeine with theanine. I forgot my afternoon dose today and I think that is why I experienced more hunger. Theanine doesn't work as an appetite suppressant per se, but I find that I can manage hunger more effectively when I take it.

clueless How's the allergies this weekend? Still working? You mentioned you are starting to "tap" for weight loss too. What affirmations are you using? rejoicealways8 Hope sleeping at home this weekend helped you re-juice your batteries. Work travel is always exhausting. Hope Mom is doing well. @bunniee, I sure hope your weekend went well. You seem so very good at controlling your eating especially while under mental/emotional strain. Good job. I made mashed cauliflower again yesterday. Used WAAAAAAY too much garlic-garlic (Tastefully Simple) but the great news is that I used my wand blender and the consistency came out perfect! I've missed mashed potatoes and my previous attempts were too grainy to really satisfy. Stupid things make me happy. I'm going to buy more cauliflower today to blend into so it cuts the garlic down to an edible level. Maybe some cheese too (What would you recommend?) Tiny fall off the wagon, few days late last week but back on track yesterday. Feeling better already. (the carbs kinda helped the constipation problem) Already planning wonderful 4th of July LC foods! DH and kids don't like potato/macaroni type salads anyway. Thinking of making the buffalo chicken wing flavored cauliflower bites with blue cheese dip-that was a hit a Girls Night In a few months ago. Looking forward to a small amount of watermelon and cherries. Chicken. Maybe some dry rub ribs. Yum! My neighborhood hosts an old fashioned 4th starting with a pot luck breakfast (I’m bringing bacon), a kids parade on decorated bikes, root beer floats (I’m hosting) and yard games such as potato sack races, egg on the spoon, water balloon toss. So much fun! All ends by 12ish so time for naps before individual evening festivities. I live on a hill and used to be able to see the river fireworks from our driveway but now the trees have grown too much. I may have to find a plan B. Sorry for the LONG ramblings. I definitely have lots of energy today! Have a great Monday!

Storytha, I had a stuffy head all weekend. I couldn't ever completely get rid of it but tapping did help. I didn't have any sneezing fits at all, just a stopped up nose. I haven't taken any allergy meds at all though and the mimosa trees are fully bloomed and lots of people are having trouble with allergies. I seem to be much better today. No stuffy nose at all. I haven't really settled on any one affirmation for weight loss. Sometimes I will just follow along on a youtube video. Sometimes I just make one up as I go depending on what is going on. I ate some watermelon today too. Man it was good. I am not tracking for right now but I am trying to eat well and eat mostly low crab.

Sunday ended up being another UP day, but that's okay. I kind of like doing down days on Monday anyway. My AC unit went out yesterday afternoon. I put in a maintenance request and they are supposed to send someone out, but no one showed up today. I hope I can sleep tonight, it is really warm even with the ceiling fan. 91F outside and 87F inside.

Monday was a successful down day in spite of the heat. I opened the windows before going to bed, and that helped to cool the bedroom enough for me to sleep. Today is an up day, and I've started off with iced coffee and poached eggs on toast.
I'm waiting to hear back on an apartment. If I don't get it, I'll be stuck in my current place another year because the owner won't let tenants go month to month. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but waiting another year won't be the end of the world. Keeping my fingers crossed!

The AC did not get fixed until late yesterday afternoon. It took until almost 10 pm to cool my bedroom to 80F. Still waiting to hear back on the new place but I found out it is run by the same property management company. Not a good sign, although we would be dealing with different owners. Tomorrow is supposed to be an UP day, but I'm thinking of doing a fat fast so I can make Friday a free day. I hope everyone is doing well, and if you're not don't be embarrassed to post about it!

@bunniee Geez, no ac would suck. Hope you are cooler today. Tom hasn't shown up for the last 2 months and I am having short little hot flashes. They only last 2 to 5 minutes. I will gladly trade tom for them Not much going on here. Trying to get back to under 50 carbs a day but fruit is tempting me. But I feel really great. Wish I hadn't gained so much weight but I am ok and I will get back down.
