Good morning everyone - man the scale is not kind these days. Last night 191.4 :eek:but at least this morning back down to 188.4, I mean is that necessary? Took some great advice and took action last night. Went to bed at a decent time and got some really good sleep. Stuck a roast in the crock pot over night and weighed it out this morning and brought to work to eat on today. This morning stopped for 3 side orders of bacon (6 pretty skinny pcs) and 2 side orders of eggs. I asked, they are just eggs, right? Oh, yeah, just eggs so hopefully when I go to log my food in later I'm not appalled from them adding crap to 'em Got a big cup of ice water at Hardee's w/ my food...working out a plan to dodge the caffeine headaches but cutting off HWC this month. Cold turkey - ouch! I did it for a good solid month for CC and feel like I rarely desire to even eat CC now - sometimes I have with pepperoni but don't binge on it and eat an entire block of it for a snack anymore, so progress and now to apply the same technique to HWC. Wish me luck...I think I'm way more addicted to HWC and coffee than I was CC. Hope y'all have a great day! WOOT WOOT for 188!!! Awesome!! You can do it Robin! I went to black coffee. It took me about a month but now I love it. I probably shold cut back some on my coffee. I go thru a lot but actually end up only drinking half a cup cause it cold before I can finish it, too busy chasing wildthangs.

Were you able to transition to a more strength training focused jazercise routine and cut back on the cardio and amount of exercise in general? I really haven't been working out much in general - I got a job as a babysitter for Jazz starting in a few weeks so will get to keep my pass free. Starting this week I plan to attend the 1p "shorter" class (it's like 40 mins total) for only strength training; called body sculpt and you only do warmup/strength/stretching - no jumping/cardio but the set is killer. I've only done 2 body sculpts and both times couldn't walk for a few days. I'm still REALLY sore from Monday morning strength set - did the 1 hour class but kept HR at about 150 for cardio the entire time (or under 150) to try and stay in what they say is a fat burning zone. I'm finding the low impact version of cardio seems to burn as many calories as my high impact workouts which surprised me! I know the HR watch and calories burned thing isn't somethng I should bank on lol but I do enjoy seeing the #s. Good morning everyone - man the scale is not kind these days. Yes...thinking black coffee will be my answer and ready to be in that place of "I love it" cuz right now I'm like ewwww gross! lol I will get there tho and yes, happy to be back under 190 for sure! Back in the 90's when I started drinking coffee black (because one of my bosses insisted it was *the* best way to drink coffee) it took me about 3 days to get used to it. It was flat awful at first. So don't give up. Just drink less until you acclimate and commit to not cheating with sweetener or cream and you'll be shocked at how good coffee is when it is black with nothing in it. The only caveat I can think of is that nothing can make bad coffee taste good. So over cooked coffee taste terrible black. Cheap or nasty coffee won't be better black. Lessee, like that terrible brand Chase and Sandborn - that stuff is horrible no matter how you drink it. But major brands like Folgers are usually excellent black.

decided to leave work for a few hours, ran home and changed into yoga pants and a t-shirt (ahhh my favorite thing in the world to wear) and hauled it to the 1p Body Sculpt. I thought it was M/T/Th/Fri/Sun only but it's Mon-Fri at 1 and Sun at 1 woo hoo! So, will make it a goal to get my bag ready night before and take my workout stuffs w/ me so I can leave work 1240, workout 1-145 then back by like 205. I am able to get to work early enough and can stay long enough to take the longer "lunch break" to fit in body sculpt. I'm excited about it. I did pretty good today...with this extra weight the class was really friggin hard - especially the leg work. Just poured myself a GIANT cup of black coffee and gonna sip on it; it's starbucks beans that we grind in a little grinder at work; we will be moving into having already ground folgers soon so glad to hear it's good black! today hasn't been 100% on point but going to body sculpt def puts me back in the right direction. not feeling hungry which is a nice feeling. will have some pickle juice later this eve and prob go for a walk with the dog and kiddos.

it's starbucks beans that we grind in a little grinder at work; we will be moving into having already ground folgers soon so glad to hear it's good black! Another thing about black coffee, stuff that taste really good with cream and sweetener does not necessarily taste good black. When you drink it black you get the unadulterated coffee flavor and not all coffee is going to have a flavor you like. For example, some coffee has a just plain weird after taste and some coffee has a very strong taste of x (floral, nutty, whatever) that is not good. Your mentioning starbucks made me think of that because they like to have unique bean blends brewed up and I've tried several that I flat didn't like even though I'd been drinking black coffee for years. Like Guatemalan and Argentinian - as I recall I despised both of those bean blends. Usually a Kona blend is a safe bet. Experiment because black coffee has a zillion different subtle flavors depending on the bean mix, grind and roast. Generally the darker roasts are not as good as the lighter roast for straight coffee. Particularly the French roast which is often nothing more than burned up beans.

Yeah, I've read that the HR stuff is nothing short of voodoo What is the difference between a low impact cardio and a high impact cardio? Are you still working out at home or in the gym with your guy? Yes, feel like I've seen that same thing when it comes to HR stuff but still can't help to love my HR watch, it's addicting. So this is probably made up based on "not that great" "research" on the internet...but from what I have seen here and there.... This is an example of something that I've read and why I will do lower impact moves sometimes at Jazzercise. I like wearing my HR watch to push my HR up for like a minute then let it get back down with lower impact moves, so the goal being HIIT...I will get my HR up to easily 90% then let it go back down to like 70% for a few minutes then push it back up again so doing the high intensity "moves" to get HR up then low impact to bring it back down. "The body does rely on different substrates during exercise according to the exercise intensity. At a lower intensity level, the body relies more on fat as a fuel source as it more time to breakdown fat and convert it to energy (a longer process). During high intensity efforts, the body begins to metabolize carbohydrates instead, preferring their speed of breakdown to fuel higher levels of exertion. This fuel preference is also dictated by the availability of oxygen which is required for fat utilization." So then it goes on kinda debunking the fat burning zone but says a few things I like about incorporating low intensity workout after intense workouts plus when I read about how important it is to rest rest rest and not do the 40 minutes of straight high impact 90-95% HR because that kind of cardio is "harder" on your body and stresses your body out and can make you hungrier (which maybe the HIIT does too, idk lol...). I've def been slacking on workouts w/ my guy. He focuses so much these days on Jiu Jitsu and I'm not into that so we're more likely to do our own workouts. It's been hard to get to the gym with him too...so yeah, that's not been happening. I def know I need to increase strength training and planning to keep the low intensity for stress relief/me time and occasional HIIT Jazz class cuz it does make my body feel good; energy levels feel better and better attitude that's for sure. Closed the darn browser I copy/pasted that info from but def there are lots of "myths on the fat burning zone" articles so it's probably all crap too LoL

reddarin - Thanks for the reminder about calories. I really need to work on getting my calories up this month. Not having a full kitchen the last few days has hindered my ability to cook, but I'm starting to put things back in place.
I get a full hour for lunch now at work, and will have access to a break room & kitchen soon. I'm not sure if there is a microwave, but I can always bring wraps or a salad. I also have a wide mouth thermos that I could use for soups or stew. It is strange but since going LC, lunch while working seems a whole lot less complicated to me. Part of it is because actually eating lunch is optional now whereas before if I tried to skip lunch at the very least I'd be distracted by hunger till I ate something and usually I'd get a banging headache. I mean, wow, if I needed to I could get by without eating or just having some shelf stable jerky and cheese or even just something fatty to drink like maybe having some CO handy to spike some coffee with. Seems like when I was not LC lunch was a much bigger hassle. Oh yeah, the appetite suppression of NK makes it easy to skip lunch if I don't have time to eat, or forget to bring anything. That's both a blessing and a curse for someone like me, who has trouble getting in enough calories sometimes. I used to skip breakfast and lunch all the time before NK - the difference now is that I don't binge at night. I haven't eaten anything today and should be fixing dinner, but I'm kind of stressed out right now. The temp agency screwed up my last paycheck and I'm waiting for the direct deposit to show up. ugh.

I weighed in twice this morning - first time the scale showed 172.8, second time it was 173.4. I think I'll just split the difference and claim 173.

Regarding coffee, I enjoy drinking it black when I'm not making foofy coffee drinks with coconut oil & hwc. I used a gift card to order the big 22 oz can of Melitta coffee, which came in the mail today. It's one of my favorite brands and not too expensive.
This morning I didn't want to make a full pot of coffee, so I used my pour over brewer. I accidentally knocked over the brewer after adding just a little water, and made a mess all over the kitchen counter and floor. I started over and made a 2nd cup, but I think I'm going to toss the pour over brewer. it's so flimsy and I've knocked the darn thing over far too many times.

I always take the lowest reading when I weigh in twice which is pretty much every morning. I get up, weigh, have some coffee and weigh again usually about an hour after the first weigh-in and whichever one is lower is my official weigh-in. Almost always that is the second weigh-in but occasionally it is the first one.

We had a big storm last night and my internet is out, so i'm posting this from my phone. My paycheck came thru last night, so thats a relief.
I got up early to make breakfast - flax and almond meal pancake with peanut butter and coconut bacon. It's not really bacon, just coconut flakes flavored with liquid smoke and wheat free tamari.

Weigh-in this morning ... 182.3 for a four point four bounce to mess up my weekly average I looked back through my spreadsheet and I see that I have typically had a fairly sizable bounce two to three days post-HIT which is very interesting. I wonder if it indicates glycogen replenishment or muscle hypertrophy? It is too regular to be just random bouncing like I experienced before beginning McGuff/Baye HIT workouts. It can't be four pounds of hypertrophy, of course, but hypertrophy and glycogen replenishment combined would account for the pattern and two to three day delay in showing up on the scale.

Had breakfast during my 9a leadership meeting this morning and just now eating lunch - it was 3p before I knew it! Such a busy day but great for staying on track with food - no time to eat! So meal 2 about 3-315 is 4.5 oz beef pot roast (last of my roast, sad face) and 2 tbsp mayo, salt/pepper, 6 pcs of precooked microwaved bacon...pointing this out since really 6 pcs of this is more like 3 pcs of the bacon when I make at home lol...such wimpy pcs they were but of course tasted like heaven...or sin...idk, LOL tasted GREEAAAAT also having another 1 L of water - success! I have a lot of bacon grease saved up at home. My guy made a comment about it so I know he's not impressed but I was like dude get over it, I have to save it in case I need it. I use for cooking a LOT and there's been times when I've been too broke to have bacon even weekly so have ran dry on the fat drippings before so mayyybe I'm saving for when that happens AND I really want to get on the mayo bandwagon and ditch the bad for you hellmanns (which is what Im eating today...ugg but sure does taste good on the roast!) So totals for today so far: fat 88 protein 76 carbs 0 72.26277372 % 27.73722628 % 0 % roughly 1100 calories only 1,315 sodium so will fix that when I get home with either pickle juice or cup of broth w/ salt added
