i dont understand it, its so simple - if your body cant deal with carbs and the result is metabolic syndrome/diabetes/insulin resistance then REMOVE THE CARBS, why on earth is the current advice to eat lots of carbs and further overload the body, its lunacy

And the sad thing is, that's just one person right there blaming carbs for the nation's struggles with obesity... most of them are STILL blaming dietary fat, and it's sickening I agree though, and the advice given to diabetics is generally TERRIBLE too. "Oh, well... just change your pancake mix to whole wheat pancake mix!" ....that crap is worse for you than the regular is! CUT OUT THE PANCAKE MIX!! I swear it's like the medical community is just trying to kill us all, because the amount of misinformation that's out there (not even JUST pertaining to diabetics) is ridiculous. I'm just happy to be enlightened at this point to the truth of how things REALLY are, but I feel bad for everyone else who still follows their suggestions and keep getting sicker and sicker.

the diabetes expert my husband was referred to said if we followed a low carb diet he would risk death from stroke, but if we followed the diet she was advocating he would be on injected insulin within two years - we took a punt on low carb because it seemed way more logical

All I know is that before I started eating low carb (per doctor's orders), I was pre-diabetic. Within 6 weeks of eating low carb, labs showed my fasting blood glucose level had dropped from 106 to 78. To me, the results speak for themselves

last night i ordered indian food and told the guy no sugar. He said "any rice or naan?" i said no thanks, he proceeded to tell me "what about fuel man you need it for energy" i was going to start..but decided it wasnt worth it, so i just said no thanks. People are programmed, not worth the effort to try and make them see outside their bubble

To me, the results speak for themselves yes they do, but for some reason my doc just cant accept that - he still maintains Mark should be on a varied diet, plenty of whole grains and vegetables etc, LOW fat everything (trim the meat, lots of polyunsaturated oils, no butter, only two eggs a week...bla bla bla), instead i never trim anything off, make sure the chicken has skin , lots of butter, saturated fat, absolutely NO polyunsaturated oils, lots of eggs (we each eat about 3 a day)and voila! good blood sugars and low cholesterol, whoda thunk!
