Yea Storytha! Great to hear from you. Much more than bits text is not efficient on a mobile phone. Convenient for location but not efficient.
Well, piffle I say! I don't know if this once-a-week weighing is going to work for me. I did break the 140 mark this week--and that is up. Ugh. I may need daily information, or at least more than once in a week, for me to have context which provides motivation. Grrrr.

Could the slight tick up in weight be from the increased frequency of the migraines Greta? I wondered about that too. I'm definitely less active when I have a migraine! But my appetite also decreases. So I thought the two were probably balancing each other out. But maybe not. Or maybe there's something else going on associated with the migraines that I'm not aware of. Today's weight was a bit better 133.0 (down 0.6 from yesterday) so maybe that will be the beginning of a new trend. I hope! I've had trouble sleeping the last two nights. But this weight thing started before that. Still, they could both be symptoms of the same underlying problem, maybe? Who knows.

Yep, that was me! Mostly because my daughter loves them, and she kind of got me into them as well. Thanks so much for mentioning these!

What is on task for this weekend, you ask? LC Crockpot Chili! I've added the recipe I found to our recipe section. I'll make it slightly less spicy, but am really looking forward to this! Yum!
Oh, and Go Seahawks!!

I'm thinking more in terms of inflammation and disruption of normal metabolism from the physical stress. Acute stuff like that defies CICO and activity level every time.

That crockpot chili looks scrumptious.
Yea me! I did 7 sets of today's stuff. That's level 3--first time I got that far. This is day 15.

Is there anything I can do to try to counteract it? Other than fixing the migraine problem, maybe proactive stress relief? Like mediation or meditative things (low impact yoga for example). Low impact exercise in general might help too. Practical jokes on your daughter. Okay, I made that last one up.

I did decide to bring my scale back to Mom's to do daily weigh-ins for a while--still remembering that I must have good sleep and not get out of bed until at least 5:30 a.m. Even though the scale went up a few tenths this morning, I am fine about it. (The break from daily weighing was good for me for that period, now going back to it is good for me.) I am keeping with how I am handling food/exercise for this third week and if the scale doesn't begin going lower, I am going to shift my eating pattern. I know I will be toned/tightened up some by mid April as I continue faithfully working it, but the total mass must be less, too, or I won't be happy about it.
The weather is supposed to get to the mid 60s today and I am so thankful (it'll get cold again this winter). Because the sun has been out the past two days I have been more active--not only with the committed-to toning program but also generally around my home...even did a couple things outside yesterday. Today I will drag out the compressor and nail gun to do a couple things on the shed that my daughter and I finished framing and getting a roof on while she was home in December. I do better if I do things a little at a time on my own more than saying I am going to spend six straight hours working on it or some such. I do until I no longer really want to.

I'm having a bad headache today. Cub Scout Pine wood Derby today. (DS had a fun day) But I only had my BP coffee, water & a cheese stick until 2. Aspirin not cutting it. Raining, so maybe barometric pressure? But so happy to report I've avoided the all carby snack table and left over pizza once home. Summer sausage with cream cheese and green olives (out of pickles) helping a little.

I did three sets of the ab work today (yea!) plus wielding power tools and 12-foot 2x4s. Probably will collapse to the floor on getting out of bed in the morning. Way to go Storytha! (Piffle on the headache....)

Ugh--I knew that because I was so active yesterday that the scale number would go up but at 1.4 more that doesn't mean I like it! Today's a cardio thing but I am going to officially and with thought not do any of that. It's an official rest day. I didn't collapse on the floor rising from bed though everything is achy. You know, the good kind.

Thankfully, the scale reversed itself the 1.4 from yesterday. It was bound to happen but I did eat less food, not any after 5 p.m., and drank some more water. Not lots and lots. More than I have been. I enjoyed the day off from toning, too.

My weight has dropped back to normal (we're only talking a difference of two pounds here, so I'm probably making too big a deal of it. But when your weight has stayed steadily in a narrow range for years, and then starts to change, it does make you wonder!). I also have not been plagued by migraines the last few days. Coincidence? No idea. Somebody please make me get off my butt and do a 5 x 5 workout today. Please! It seems really intimidating to me right now. Maybe after my coffee kicks in I'll be feeling more inspired and determined.

WOOT WOOT! Had my weekly weigh in this morning and I'm down 5lbs this morning! I realize a few of those pounds may be water weight, but I'm happy all the same!
Based on the replies (thank you to everyone who responded!) I double checked my protein and while I'm definitely on the low end of what Dr. Phinney suggested some days, I'm also not forcing myself to eat, which is nice. Last year I did the higher end and got to where I hated eating because I had to force more meat/cheese down my throat. I've decided instead of having a specific number, I'll have a range. As long as I'm in the 1 - 1.5 rage that was recommended, I'll count it as a success.
Other than Saturday when I wasn't feeling well at all and spent most of the day sleeping, I have bumped up my calories just a bit. We'll see if the uptick will help or hinder the loss this week. I'll keep playing until I know what works best for me. Right now I'm actually enjoying the ride! I get a little frustrated with the time it takes to do all of the logging and planning, but I know in another couple of weeks it'll be old hat. I have some recipes I'm super excited to try - cauliflower hummus, cabbage fried with bacon, cheesy tuna casserole. Honestly - I eat far better when I'm on this "diet" (I know, I know... it's a WoE) than I did when I just grabbed whatever I was craving!
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! (I'm not going to post all the data today because, quite frankly, I'm feeling too lazy. But here's the link to my account if you want to check it out: www.fatsecret.com/Diary.aspx?pa=fj&id=11645237&dt=16454)

Hey Greta, I'd be glad for you to commit to me that if you don't do a 5x5 workout today that you'll send me $50. :)s
Five pounds is FANTASTIC Reepicheep. No reasons to qualify it as water weight or such. Gone is gone. Yea!

Congrats! That is fantastic! I think that's a beautiful idea. You have to make this flexible enough to be livable! I feel the same way. I tried so many diets (vegetarian, vegan, macrobiotic, blood type, all kinds of crazy stuff). How lucky is it that the one that helps me manage my weight best and be by far my healthiest and happiest, is also the one with the most delicious and filling foods!

You had not committed to do that anyway--but it would have been a good motivator if you'd decided to use it. LATER: oh today's thing is hard: lunges, squats, plank leg raises, plank jacks, and climbers. I got through all of one set. I commit to doing another one a little later. Ought to have started this morning so that I could have worked in three sets. Ha!

Ought to have started this morning so that I could have worked in three sets. Ha! Yeah, a VERY good motivator! My daughter is trying to break a habit, so I suggested to her that each time she does this thing she's trying not to do, she should put some money in a jar, and then give the money to charity when the jar is full. She didn't like my suggestion. Notice that I did not think to apply it to myself! Ha! I think I will, though. My plan is to workout Monday through Saturday, and have a rest day on Sunday. So I could say that $x goes into the jar each day that the workout doesn't get done, and eventually the money goes to the local food bank. In a way, it seems wrong to make charity a punishment, when it is something that ideally should be done joyfully. But I need some accountability! I'm open to other suggestions, if anyone has one. Yikes, that does sound tough! Planks kill me!!! But I know that means that I need to do more of them. (Lots more.)

Yesterday’s numbers: Cals 1037 Fat 60.13 Carbs 30.0 Prot 61.32 WI 279.6 -1.0#
So on my 3 day weekend I made my crock pot chili and cauliflower Spanish “rice”. Both very good. Will be using them for lunches this week. The stuffed mushroom recipe went untried-my mushrooms got old. I made a Taco bar for the Seahawk game and have tons of meat and fixings left over as well.
So lots of talk on the news channels regarding sitting all day being bad for you. I sit 8 hours at work and couch it 6 hours in the evening. My office printer is just outside my office door but I stay seated until someone brings me my print job. One person said that it helps her immediately walk to co-worker’s offices. I leave the mail/paperwork on my desk until either they come into my office to ask a question or I get up for lunch/bathroom breaks. I am incredibly sedentary. I have a U shaped desk with two separate computers. Desk “converters” are ridiculously expensive. I’m going to keep looking into my options. I was thinking that report had some merit.
