silvia, are you taking measurements? You may find that you are getting smaller with the exercise even if the scale doesn't agree.

Thanks gretalyn And clueless I have just started with the exercise 2 weeks ago low carb life style I began last august when I did first round of hcg diet, I did 3 rounds of that diet which is low carb, after each round I didn't eat starches, sugar or flour for 21 days and then I could start next round.
I am now finishing that phase of last round, the difference was that I exercised this time and I began to gain a little weight. On that protocol it is necessary to weight daily to see if you have to do a correction day when you gains more than two pounds. But I haven't done that
I am not eating sugar flour or starches and I am being careful with my carb intake to eat less than 50 total grams but I am confused about how much fat I should eat, in the art of science of the low carb performance book, the author says that when you meet your goal you should eat less fat and may increase carbs depending on your resistance to carbs
I do not know if I should eat less no that I have about 10 pounds to lose I haven't taken measurements I will begin to do that I know the scale can be bad reference, yesterday I weighted 1.5 pounds less that the day before so I said yeeeeei finally I will begin to lose but I had a party and I ate too much fat (guacamole pork rinds rib eye)
I went to bed at 2 am and waked up early, I gained 3.5 pounds so it can be many things right? Water retention etc
Today is my last day of stabiliZation so I will begin to weight every Monday now so I do not get paranoiac
If I am exercising and not eating more than 50 totals of carbs , I hope everything takes it course.
Someone told me ketogenic diets doesn't work for women and I was doubting
I was thinking to do 3 days of fat fast to see if I drop some pounds and get into ketosis and break the plateau , what do you think about that method?

Hi silvia. I think don't freak out. Just hold steady and do what you are doing. I wouldn't change your diet just now and do a fat fast, you may stress yourself too much. Take your measurements and exercise if you want. Give your body a little chance to adjust. Exercise also causes water retention in the muscles that your are working while they repair. I almost always see a bounce on the scale after a workout. Not getting enough sleep also can cause a bounce on the scale. Be proud of all you have accomplished! You are doing great. How are your clothes fitting?

Someone told me ketogenic diets doesn't work for women and I was doubting Women almost always lose weight more slowly than men do, regardless of whether they're using a low-carb diet, low-fat, whatever. But that doesn't mean the diet doesn't work. The ketogenic diet worked far, far better than anything else I had ever tried, both for weight loss and for my health. And I agree with everything that Cheryl said. You are doing great! Hang in there. Don't change things yet because what you are doing IS working. The last 10 pounds may be a little slower, but that's normal.

Silvia, when you were doing HCG what was your calorie intake? It was 500 calories because while administrating the hormone hcg, hypothalamus send the instruction to the body to take the 1500-2000 calories missing in your daily requirements from the fat stored abnormally in the body, it is similar like a pregnant woman, even if she doesn't get nutrients in the alimentation, the baby is burn healthy, because the body in presence of hcg get the calorie intake from abnormal fat That is why it is a very low calorie diet but you are not hungry because the body actually gets the 2000-2500 calories you need And is a diet where you are in ketosis because of the carb intake, not the fat though Enviado desde mi iPhone con Tapatalk

I think rejoicealways8 did HCG? She might be able to give you some advice about what is going on?

HCG usually has a 500 or an 800 calorie daily intake with specific foods. The HCG releases the fat on the body so one is receiving the cals on needs. But it is limited...only about three weeks on and then one must keep learning to adjust one's eating habits to keep the lower weight number.

I did 3 rounds and just ended stabilization phase Now I feel like the days where I have eaten more fat I have gained weight and adjusting to the advice I found in the link another user gave me, in order to stay in ketosis and loose more weight I should eat 100 gr of protein, 70 gr fat and 50gr total carbs or 30 carbs and 90 gr of fat
That way I do not gain let's see what happened next weeks

It is such a battle. How is the exercise going? Are you feeling good. I do think the exercise helps to stay positive and have more energy.

As I posted in the May thread, I have really dropped the ball with regard to my exercise. I mentioned that on Saturday (yesterday) I took a barre class at my gym. I also exercised on Friday. I had been doing this run-walk-run-walk thing on a 1.75 mile trail loop in an open space area near my home. I try to keep my heart rate in a specific range, so I run until it reaches the upper end of the range, then walk until it drops to the lower end of the range, rinse and repeat. I'm very slow, but the best pace I had achieved (back when I was doing this regularly) was a 15 minute 14 second mile. Pathetic, I know. But what's even more pathetic is that Friday's pace (after not having done this for months) was 18:21. Gaaah!

I have found a way to exercise that I love. I am doing sprints 30 to 45 seconds on my treadmill. Then I hop off and clean house at a pretty fast pace for 4 minutes, then back to the treadmill to sprint. It has really helped to give me a lift. I was going thru one of those low times (thyroid I guess) where I had NO energy. I found that these sprints have really boosted my energy and my house gets cleaned nicely. I can see improvement already too. Today my sprints added up to a mile in less than 10 minutes and my whole house got mopped, a load of laundry started, all my plants outside got watered, bathrooms cleaned and the dishwasher unloaded. WOOT! WOOT!!

Lol, getting the house cleaned is a huge motivation toward doing the sprints.

Yeah, I bet my husband would love it if I started doing your method of combined exercise and housekeeping. But since we don't have a treadmill I guess he's out of luck. lol!

As stated, we don't have a treadmill. But my husband decided to buy a stationery bike, so we should be getting that in some time next week. That will be nice!

Well, shoot. I guess I need to get off my lazy butt and start regular exercise. There's no history of heart disease in my family but all those years of eating a poor diet probably took a toll on my innards.

Well if it's any consolation at all, I find exercise to be actually fun now that I'm ketogenic, while I had always HATED it before.

Any physical exertion is good for overall health. Find something you love to do and do that. Play in the park, dance in your living room, go for a stroll, play hopscotch, go splash in the water. Until this past year I was very active in my yard, lifting heavy things, pulling, digging--all stuff I like doing and the results of. Greta is doing what she is doing because she loves to do it now -- and even then she let is slide for a bit she said.
The key is find what you love to do that causes you to lift heavy things for a little or gets your heart rate up. Dance class would do it for me, too, something tap or clogging cause I find that to be so happy. It doesn't work for me right now so I am not. The love of working in the yard only feels like "one more thing" at that moment. I know it is a season I am in, not beating myself up about it.

@bunniee, I'm sorry for such a short post before. I was rushing, and I should have just waited until I had more time to dedicate. But Pam has covered it well. You do have to find something that you enjoy. And for me, I've discovered that I'm much more likely to enjoy it when I'm eating right, because only under those circumstances do I recover well and actually get stronger and improve. The belief some people have that exercising means you can eat whatever you want or at least more junk is absolutely WRONG in my case. I used to hate exercise because I felt like no matter how hard I tried, I never got any better at it. Once I got my nutrition into place, that changed, and exercise actually became rewarding.
And this may not apply to you or anyone else, but another thing that has helped me personally is letting go of the idea of perfectionism. I used to get so caught up in the idea of finding the perfect workout routine, that I actually ended up discouraging myself and procrastinating. Now, I am more accepting of the idea that ANY way that I get my body moving is a huge success. And so I've actually ended up doing more, and enjoying it more. And like Pam said, I've had times when I let things slide (and a rather extended time that I let one aspect of my routine, a weight-lifting class, slide) but when I let go of this idea of the perfect workout regimen, then those stumbles are not a big deal, and I can just get back in the groove without feeling like, "well, I've messed up, so I might as well give up." Stupid, I realize, but I used to think that way!

We all have had, and some times still do, the mindset of "pitch it all because I haven't done it well or often enough" or whatever excuse we are giving ourselves. This is a saying of mine "Seeking perfection is foolish because it is unobtainable."
