Darin, if you have a bunch of the oxide, try increasing the daily amount to 1000 so some portion gets absorbed...a small amount will, men can handle more, but if you eat nuts, don't go over 1000 in 24 hr. No need to overdo it.

Good morning, everyone! 'Hope you are all well and happy! Not a good day for me - am getting some pain from the RA! Number hasn't moved - At least it hasn't gone up!!!! I think I read somewhere that if there is inflamation in the body, water is retained !??? - Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!!! The weather here has been lovely for the last few days, but apparently we're getting the last bit of the US wet/windy weather this week (thats very kind of you) !!! I also am a cat owner - or should I say she allows me to live with her!!!!! and she hates the rain!!!!! Sorry I'm rambling................ Love and hugs!

Robin, I just realized I never exactly answered your question about sugar alcohols and carb counts. Sorry about that! My point to that whole long-winded thing was that if I ever eat maltitol again (no plans to do so!) I will count it, because I know it affects my body like sugar. But since erythritol doesn't affect me, I have not been including it in my counts. And luckily, the GI of erythritol, according to that article that you linked, is zero.
I'd be curious to know how others count sugar alcohols as well.

Chrispy, I hope you feel better!
I wish you guys could send some of that rain our way! We've had drought for about ten years now. I believe we've gotten about half an inch of rain total for the entire year so far. Plants are dying and forests are on fire. It's awful.
132.8 this morning.

No food is worth that much pain, ugh.

Quick check in before I board my plane. I tried to log my food from yesterday, but could not find any nutritional info on alligator sausage. lol
Then I had boiled shrimp and grilled red snapper with butter for dinner. I'm definitely puffy this morning!
I'm looking forward to being back home in my routine. It's hard to eat enough and exercise right when you don't control your meals or your time.

Weigh-in this morning ... 187.2 Have a safe trip home, Amanda! I have a silly question, just a little thing. Is there a standard order in which people usually record their macronutrients (either ratios or grams)? What I mean is, I usually write carbs/protein/fat because that way it goes from smallest to largest. But if the convention is to do it in a different order, I'd like to know. I always record grams, not percentages. I'm just wondering about the order. C/P/F or F/P/C or other?

For what it is worth sparkpeople's android app is free today at Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/ref=nav_sap_mas_13_06_10?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B009T9RV2IDunno anything about their app and I don't use sparkx for anything usually. Their recipe creator thing web page is awesome though. I've used that several times to help me create a custom food on FitDay (because FD has a horribly clunky interface).

ugg...rough Sun/Mon so far. i had to work at home on Sun to prepare for auditors this week. our system was down Sat so it had to be put off till Sun. My honey had to work so i had his kiddos till he got home at 1215 so couldn't get much done. anyway as i was plugging along he got a phn call that sadly one of his friends had been found in a car, no longer alive. such a sad story because he has a little girl who is the sweetest thing - i've met them a few times. his wife is 5 mo pregnant right now . We don't know the story about his death but regardless my guy was really shook up and so i stopped working to be supportive which meant i was up till about 215a working, didn't finish, then up at 530a to work till 7a then had to haul it into work and got in at 8a. managed to get stuff all ready as needed thankfully but with much pressure and stress and then to top it off i started my TOM this morning and i'm feeling super miserable. back hurting, cramps yada yada. ugg. i'm planning to stay on track today and know if i eat right the crappy feelings in my body will die down. i'm going to be drinking lots of fluids today. i'm not sure i will work out today since so little sleep but it is stinking plyo monday so we'll see what happens... So far today I've only had 2 tbsp of EVCO in hot tea with no sweetners. Brought some baked chicken breast strips. Figure stick to chicken and tuna/mayo today for protein and maybe eggs for dinner tonight and adding the EVCO for fat. Thanks everyone for the feedback on sugar alcohol - very helpful!

Oh, Robin, I am so sorry. Sorry for your husband, and especially for the wife and kids of this friend. And sorry that you are so exhausted and overworked. Eating clean will definitely help those TOM issues, but I'd also highly recommend aleve (naproxen). It works about a thousand times better for me for those kinds of issues than advil (ibuprofen) does. I know that many people like to avoid medications whenever possible, but this sounds like one of those days when it could be very beneficial.

Robin, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's friend. How awful for his family.
I hope you make it through work okay and get plenty of rest tonight.

I got the Sparkpeople app installed, and was happy to see it has a barcode scan feature. That will make it easier to log foods not already in the database. I had a bit of money left after paying the electric bill, so I went to the grocery store this morning and got sour cream, cream cheese, half & half, and hot dogs. Kind of a weird selection but those items were all on discount. I picked half & half instead of heavy cream, because it is cheaper and really not much higher in carbs. I'm waiting for the cream cheese to soften so I can blend it with sour cream, cocoa powder, and sweetener.

A few weeks of summer sounds so nice, unless the trade-off is a harsh winter. It feels like summer lasts about 5 months in Texas. I took a break from logging my food yesterday and it was nice for a change. I'm thinking of not tracking for the rest of the week and see how it goes. I was eating very low calorie last week, and while I know I should up my calories it's hard seeing the higher numbers in the log.

That is interesting. 10 days with a total excess of 27,000 calories and about 0.22 pounds gained but waist size went down. He should be up about 7.5 pounds by now. And he isn't ketogenic at 80g of carbs a day, just LC-ish. And I feel much better about the visual progress on my biceps

Reading through the comments section of that post and the naysayers are actually claiming that he isn't gaining weight because of his high calorie nut snacking lol.
But if a person was gaining weight, ate a healthy SAD and listed all them nuts as snacks those same people would be blaming the nuts.
